Deputy Mayor
[edit]The lengthy paragraph on Duffy's deputy mayor really belongs on a separate page. Mentioning a political appointee seems okay, but the amount of detail here is out of place. Suggest removing it or create a separate entry and linking to it from here. --Anson2995 16:30, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- In the absence of any objection, I removed the bio for Duffy's deputy mayore that was added to this entry. If someone wants to create a separate entry for her, I think that'd be fine, but it doesn't belong here. --Anson2995 14:29, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Graduation date from MCC
[edit]In this edit, User:Anson2995 removed the note about the discrepancies in graduation dates from Monroe Community College, claiming that the reason there are two separate dates (1975 and 1988) is because Duffy earned two separate degrees there based on two separate sources that mention only one degree each.
- http://rocdocs.democratandchronicle.com/page/robert-duffy-timeline states that "Duffy earned an associate's degree in applied science in recreation leadership from Monroe Community College." in a duplicated "1975" clickable item. There is no clickable timeline item for 1988.
- http://www.monroecc.edu/depts/Foundation/alumni/pasthalloffame.htm states "Robert Duffy, '88, Chief, Rochester Police Department" with no indication that he graduated in any other year, least of all 1975. It also doesn't say anything about the "other" "associates's degree in Criminal Justice from the same school in 1988" that User:Anson2995
Does User:Anson2995 think that MCC "forgot" about the supposed first (1975) degree? Is User:Anson2995's theory that simultaneously the Democrat and Chronicle failed to uncover the supposed second (1988) degree?
- I'll cite some other sources if your prefer. No need to be snarky. This page at MCC refers to the fact that Duffy earned degrees in both 1975 and 1988. [1] Here's a campaign bio that mentions the two degrees from MCC. [2]. Here's another. [3] The D&C story that accompanied the timeline did include mention of the two degrees from MCC, but it's no longer available online. If you like, I'll post a link to a scanned copy. - You should use citations that actually demonstrate the claim directly, rather than via a WP:SYNTHESIS. -- DanielPenfield (talk) 15:33, 5 March 2011 (UTC)
- That's not an example of synthesis at all. Regardless, I went back and looked at the D&C timeline, and it *does* have entries for both 1975 and 1988, listing the two associates degrees he received from MCC. Hope this can put this issue to rest. Anson2995 (talk) 13:55, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
post-LG ship
[edit]This page should be updated with what Duffy has done since he became Lieutenant Governor twenty-two months ago. 74.69.11.229 (talk) 22:25, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
name
[edit]Perhaps a possible move to "Bob Duffy (politician)" as he as known as Bob. For example, Bill Clinton is not titled "William Clinton", Kim Campbell is not titled "Avril Phædra Douglas Campbell" and Bob Dylan not "Robert Zimmerman". MB298 (talk) 01:00, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
