[edit]Having googled in the CWGC database for a Robert Davies who died serving on 9 December 1916, I turned up Captain Robert Finden Davies of the London Regiment (Queen Victoria's Rifles) whose death date is exactly that. However there is no further detail except that he is commemborated on the Thiepval Memorial for those missing/no known grave in the Somme sector. I wonder if there is an obituary of him in the Times List of Fallen Officers that was published in the newspaper during the First World War that identify him with the sports shooter? I tried to check the Olympedia source but simply got a "Bad gateway" error message.Cloptonson (talk) 17:47, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
