Naming of Cox's Creek
[edit]See South Australian Register, 7 Jan 1893 for an account by Mr. Robert Rankine of the trip during which the creek was named. (Supplement, page 1) In crossing what is now known as Cox's Creek Mr. Richardson asked, "What do you call this creek, Mr. Cock" and that gentleman answered, 'I cannot tell.' 'Well,' says Mr. Richardson, 'we will call it Cock's Creek.' 'No, no,' says Mr. Cock, 'I don't want any place named after me'. The name, however, stuck to it for a number of years, and now it is wrongly spelled, but I hope the original name will revert to it.
