Everglades Foundation

[edit]

I removed the following paragraph:

Smith is currently the president of the Everglades Foundation. [1] While a U.S. senator as chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee in 2000, Smith championed the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) through a GOP-led Senate.

The website http://evergladesfoundation.org/directors-staff.php does not list him anywhere.

Hitchens quote

[edit]

The addition of the Hitchens quote in the first paragraph is clearly biased and does not belong at the very beginning. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.186.27 (talk) 14:05, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removed Hitchens quote. It's funny and all but it's invective and abuse and doesn't belong. 216.135.32.188 (talk) 14:57, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Height

[edit]

Does his height really belong in the opening? JBFrenchhorn (talk) 18:40, 9 May 2008 (UTC) He is pretty tall. It's kinda the first thing you notice. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.203.67.41 (talk) 02:46, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You wouldn't notice it reading about him on the internet. I'll move it down.--Muboshgu (talk) 21:12, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kerry Endorsement

[edit]

Here is an email response from Bob when I asked him about his endorsement of John Kerry (I found it odd since he is a Republican)

"2. John Kerry. Here is the very honest response to that issue. In my primary in 2002 President Bush and Karl Rove publicly promised that they would support my re-election against a moderate Republican, John Sununu. They broke their word and supported Sununu causing my defeat.

"I was angry with Bush and out of spite wrote a letter to Kerry endorsing him on a personal as opposed to a political level. Kerry released the letter to the press. In retrospect "endorsing" Kerry was a mistake. Of course I do not support John Kerry on anything. We fought on the POW issue, on abortion, guns, foreign policy, taxes, spending, you name it. I am human and I got mad. Bush let me down and I wanted to let him know how I felt. Any person who has followed my career knows that politcally Kerry and I were worlds apart. However trust and honor is important too and Bush violated that trust with me.

"When John Kerry was asked to come to NH to campaign against me, he refused. We had a good personal relationship and a terrible political one! At least he never lied to me and tried to defeat me.

"OK, I have said enough. By the way this all was written by me and not a staff member. I just wanted you to know this!"

I don't have all of the style and guidelines down for Wikipedia, but I will do my best to include this information, please check out my changes and edit as necessary. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.178.228.231 (talk) 13:05, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
