Robby Robinson, Honorary Jersey Boy (and Fifth Season)
BY JORDAN OAKES OCTOBER 26, 2011
Robinson's name in the title, this is a feature article on the topic of Robbie Robinson and his position as music director with quotes from Robinson interspersed.
Done removed abbreviations of Illinois, St. Louis is not commonly known as Saint Louis so I left it as is per MOS:POSTABBR
Not done The names of groups that Robinson has performed or published with are adequately sourced. (Instances of where a solo musician can hold an audience's attention are extremely rare. The best musicians are always seeking the best accompanists.) The fact is that people get together to make music, this is the nature of the business art.
Chicago Tribune - he comments on the event, but it isn't significant coverage of Robinson himself, other than that he owns particular organs. If anything, it covers more of Gregg Gronowski's memory.
The Journal-News - the first half of the article covers their background, naming band directors, teachers, and their mother, and brief mentions of playing in rock bands. The second is just name drops of the rest of the bands.
St. Louis magazine - might be okay, although a lot of the early information was quoted from Robinson himself.
I've added seven references to demonstrate that Robby Robinson is Frankie Valli's band leader and still is to this day. Valli intends to return to touring when his health issues clear up. Much of Robinson's discography has been cross-threaded on AllMusic with Robbie Robinson (note spelling of first name). AllNusic has become increasingly non-responsive so I don't know if we will ever be able to get his discography fixed. I can't find any references for contributions to the Jersey Boys (film) and/or the Broadway play, but he did arrange a follow up album with Bob Gaudio, Jersey Babys. The body of work here is cross-generational. Regards, Apriltools (talk) 20:53, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Apriltools, seven references is overkill and the passing mentions like that should be trimmed out. We know he's the band leader / director / keyboardist for 40+ years. The question is again, sources that specifically show significant coverage of Robinson's career on his own merit. AngusW🐶🐶F (bark • sniff) 21:05, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I figured WP:NBASIC"If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability;" and WP:ENT "1. Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions; or" would count for something. As I mentioned above, his discography is a mess on Allmusic, I guess I'll check for some albums that have charted.Apriltools (talk) 01:51, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Apriltools, compare with Paul Paddick (the "Fifth Wiggle", much like "Fifth Season") who has news articles focused solely on his career. We need more of those rather than the combined ones where he's given a passing mention along with others in the current lineup. AngusW🐶🐶F (bark • sniff) 21:07, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
