vanity

[edit]

This looks like an obvious vanity page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by SydViscous (talkcontribs)

No, it's not. sing your posts. --Chris Griswold () 19:21, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Rivkah's a pretty major American manga artist on a definitely major pub house. And as a book retailer I can say her stuff moves more briskly than some of the other marquee names you'd expect to beat her in our sales reports. Ford MF 20:28, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's all very well, but this certainly reads like a vanity page in its current state. I just tried to edit it into an encyclopedic article, and I don't see how to do that with what's here. It's fluff. It needs more real data, and all the stuff about her hardships, what she likes to do in her spare time, and what her favorite books are, needs to go. That sort of thing does not belong in an encyclopedic article.
I have to wonder just how much article-worthy info can exist for a 24-year-old who's mostly known for one (admittedly good) graphic novel series. Can anyone suggest how to fill this out into a real article? If you take out the irrelevant material, what's left is a stub that says "Rivkah is the creator of Steady Beat". I did a quick search on the username "Mypicasso" who did most of the creation of this article, and found this in Google cache: http://a.imagehost.org/0036/mypicasso.png ...this would lead me to believe that "Mypicasso" is Rivkah herself which would explain the "vanity" nature of the writing. So while I agree Rivkah is noteworthy for her work on Steady Beat, I don't believe the main writer of the article was keeping a neutral point of view. I edited the article to delete most of the "fluff" though I'm sure quite a bit more editing could be done to make the article more encyclopedic. Bisforboy (talk) 11:25, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just edited the page further per living persons biography guidelines to take out anything irrelevant to her notoriety and tried to get citations for as much of the remaining information as I could.Bisforboy (talk) 23:17, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
