[edit]Anybody have any idea how to cite the distinction between Singer Island and Riviera Beach? Pretty much everybody on the Island uses Singer Island as their location in postal addresses and discussions. It is very clear, but I'm baffled at how to show proper evidence. It is a glaring omission in the article, and absolutely should be addressed. 68.63.165.28 15:36, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- Find something published by a reliable source that discusses the distinction. Avoid blogs, web forums, personal web sites, sites promoting hotels and resorts, etc. Frankly, if a reliable source has not published a substantive description of the distinction, it doesn't belong in Wikipedia. -- Donald Albury 20:48, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Images of notable people
[edit]It is the norm on wp in notable people lists and sections of geographical articles to have some images of the people on the list. I am surprised that an editor would delete one as assertedly "decorative." I urge a revert. 2603:7000:2101:AA00:20A1:2B10:BD01:6420 (talk) 16:26, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- Why an image for that person? As I recall, when I have seen images in a list of notable people, they have been of people who are widely known. I think that the principal of Wikipedia is not a memorial site applies here. Donald Albury 19:48, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- No memorial here. He's not dead. And he is clearly notable. And that's the common theme in such photos across such sections and articles. And the rationale used for the deletion was odd and inapplicable. "Decorative"? Simply not the case. --2603:7000:2101:AA00:3DF7:E2D7:8DDE:5CF7 (talk) 21:42, 27 August 2023 (UTC)
- Who are you referring to? The image removed by @Magnolia677: was of Elizabeth Jackson, killed in Iraq in 2005. Donald Albury 00:20, 28 August 2023 (UTC)
