Requirements to Edit or Post

Any person who wishes to Post or Edit should be required to complete and pass an educational tutorial. Required classes should entail specifics about Style, type of Acceptable Material in any specific catagory. How to Post material, how to Edit material, how to Assist others, and maybe how to use subset pages for more detail would also benefit those who whish to contribute to Wiki, (I am sure there are many more subjects that should be required.)

By creating a School for Posting, etc., as a requirement before anyone can Post would stop vicious and improper Postings.

I suggest B.Wind and others who are designated fixers, deleters of inappropriate information should take this Suggest requirement to the Leaders and Ruling party and create such a school. Then no one who Posts will waste time of anysort or see their work destroyed, even if there is a good reason to remove it. I remind everyone most people who want to Post have good ideas. They need assistance and if directed to a Required set of classes or learning the result would be very powerful for everyone concerned. There would also be a big savings of hurt feelings. The benefit of having Wiki educated Posters is far reaching. Change the way Posting information is done.

Note: B.Wind - You should read the Memorial information yourself. Understand no memorial of ant one person was done. The section that was placed as Mrmorial listed only the names of students that attended the school in a specific year. The guidelines could be understood to allow such information as long as no actual single person was eulogized as a memorial for them. I suggest you did not like the idea and made no effort to allow such information based on your own feelings. The list was not a memorial. It was a memoriam. The list would be a unique list just as the Notable Alumni for a different reason. Go back and read what Wiki says on the subject and also look to see what it does not say.

Cirelages 5/27/2010 I have seen to many things removed because someone thinks they know better. Fix this broken way of doing things. Wiki loses to many good people for the wrong reasons. I will no longer support Wiki for any reason. I don't see how anyone can continue to risk this type of hidden ridicule. Hopefully, this post won't be removed and someone will understand.

I can live with knowing that some of the information I have added to this page is still part of the whole the world will need to know about this school. History

Where is the history information in this article from? Most of it has no references, including when it was first created in March of 2007... it needs to have references to be accurate per Wikipedia guidelines. If it is plagiarized from somewhere, it needs to be changed (and that source can be used as a reference). Thanks, Keepingwatch (talk) 23:57, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

Connor Munson is NOT the principal, rather a student. Ditto for John Sheehan. I removed both, but I don't know who the actual principal is, so if someone could please fill that in...

Mascot and School Pride

July, 30, 2009

Added information under the heading Mascot and School Pride, using examples from specific Poly yearbooks. References were added for each year. All of the information is verifiable by viewing the yearbook referenced.

The article is my own and is original using the factual information presented in each yearbook. I have not found any other publication, either on the Internet or in any other book that has this information available to use as a source. Therefore the yearbooks referenced become the only existing authority and only verifible source of the information available as of this writing.

Copies of the yearbooks are available in the Local History Library in the Riverside Main Library located downstairs in the basement. I used my personal collection of Poly yearbooks.

I tried to reference the information properly. If I have not please feel free to correct the format of the reference.

Copyright information: All of the yearbooks referenced are public information sources. There should be no problems with copyright issues or this article being an original work.

Hello, I'd like to know if it would be ok to split up the Headings, Mascot and School Pride. Would it be ok to make 2 headings, one for Mascot and a different one for School Pride? I have made the information flow a bit better so everything reads easier.

Principals and Vice Principals

New section added. This listing is a vital area that belongs as a listing only. No other information about any of the people will be placed unless they are a notable individual. Cirelages (talk) 02:38, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

In Memorium

New section added. This section is also important as it brings social respect to the students of those times. This is about the school. I would like some feedback on this section as difficult as it may be. Itmight be more appropriate as a subsection or subpage.

The "in memoriam" with very tight rules seems like it'll work; having reliable sources would help, but will probably be difficult to find. tedder (talk) 02:44, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Added sprcific page numbers from the yearbooks. The best source would probably be from old newspapers. A daunting task of itself to locate this information as there is no reference to any date. I can only hope that someone who is interested will find the time to do that specific resear5ch and then add it to the section and reference it, with notes here.Cirelages (talk) 00:58, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

"Athletics" needs a rewrite

I've tagged the "Athletics" section as it reads like something lifted from a recruiting pamphlet. This needs to be rewritten to cover the sports offerings of the school in an objective, non-promotional way. B.Wind (talk) 14:31, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Reminder: Don't forget who reads Wikipedia articles

On repeated reading, I felt the need to tag a couple of sections as needing particular attention. Some of this is better presented in a scrapbook or an article for the local paper. The local audience would be better served by having the school district with its own Web page with all the intricate details that are presented here. Wikipedia is global in scope and reach - lists of prior principals would not be of interest to someone in another part of the world (in fact, had this been List of principals of Riverside Polytechnic High School, it would have been deleted for a number of reasons). Don't write this for your next door neighbor: write it for someone who has never set foot on the school campus... and in fact hasn't set foot in the State of California. Special note

if details are not allowed in an encyclopedia, then the purpose of having a place to hold that information has been defeated. Maybe creating a special page to have such detail would be more appropriate than to simply remove the information. By making zero provisions for details, only leaving room for generalities of fluff without substance is what this page has become. It is not a place to learn about this fine school as it should be. All information thY tells of what went on in the school should be in these pages.

I don't need a travel guide rendition of this school. I need what made this school what it is today. Everything from what student died during the school year to who the teachers were to who was on the team. That has been spoiled by the sad removal of what was getting to be a great picture of what was.

I'll not be a part of such hard censur.

• If people would take the time to learn the Wikipedia method of style, try to adopt the article guidelines on articles on schools, and look beyond their own city (or county) limits when they write this, then there would be an article that everybody to read and use (I suspect that Cirelages would be much better off with a private Web site at which he/she can create an electric scrapbook for the school, which is something that cannot stand here at Wikipedia). A memorial page? Create one at the electronic scrapbook and not here as Wikipedia is not a memorial. Pages about your (personal) teachers and classmates are better served on a local site, not here. Here, tell the world (and be sure to cite your assertions with footnotes from reliable sources) what separates your high school from the hundreds and thousands of similar schools in the US, Canada, and the rest of the world.
