I'm not that bothered whether Stour Valley redirects here or to River Stour, I just know that we don't need a separate article for it. Technically, most of this article is about the valley and not the river itself. 82.20.52.30 (talk) 03:15, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you look at the link to the Bures Community Web site you will find a wealth of information on the river from its early days when it was made navigateable until the present day —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.112.69.242 (talk) 17:55, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation

[edit]

Pronunciation of Stour in South Suffolk is split between stu-er and stow-er (to rhyme with flower). Not sure where to find a source for this, or how to represent this in IPA. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 14:02, 9 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I can do it. So it rhymes with sewer or sour? If you distinguish flower (2 syllables) from flour (one syllable), which one rhymes with Stour? — kwami (talk) 23:16, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There are two equally correct pronunciations, one rhymes with sewer, one rhymes with sour. Both are single-syllable words with dipthongs. Thanks. Ilikeeatingwaffles (talk) 06:54, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment

[edit]

I have assessed the article against the following criteria:

  • Suitably referenced, with inline citations
  • Reasonable coverage - no obvious omissions or inaccuracies
  • Defined structure, with adequate lead
  • Reasonably well written for grammar and flow
  • Supporting materials - Infobox, map, images
  • Appropriately understandable

As it meets these, I have uprated the article to B-class. Bob1960evens (talk) 15:12, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
