[edit]After reading this article and the site it links to, I still have no idea how this sport differs from bandy. -Adjusting 00:53, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- It's only played in a hockey rink. It's also usually called rink bandy. -Yupik 23:11, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Why two sports in one article?
[edit]I think it is not good to write about both rink bandy and rinkball in the same article. Why not split them up, maybe write about rink bandy in the article about bandy in stead? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:801:320:8F03:0:0:0:1 (talk) 19:45, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- No, rinkbandy should have its own article and rinkball too. Make two articles. Åke Lunk (talk) 20:16, 26 November 2016 (UTC)
- I think so too. Like Åke Lunk, that is. Bandy Blues (talk) 21:50, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
- Rinkball is essentially a variant of rink bandy, the only real difference is the shape of the stick, which is like an ice hockey stick in rinkball while rink bandy uses the bandy stick. Rinkball had some success in the 1990s, but I don't actually know if it is played very much nowadays. Describing it here in a section of the article about rink bandy gives it credit as a sport of its own but still something which came out if rink bandy and never really managed to last as an international sport in its own right. Rink bandy, on the other hand, didn't strive to be its own sport but is still seen as a variant of bandy. Bandy Hoppsan (talk) 22:26, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
- As far as I can gather, rinkball is still being played in leagues at least in Finland, where they also have a national championship in the sport. In some sources, there seems to be some confusion as to wether this is called rinkball or if it is called rinkbandy, but I think the correct name is rinkball. Given that it is actually played regularly in at least one country, I think it should have its own article. It has its own article in Swedish, Finnish and Russian. - I have created a separate rinkball article now. Bandy Hoppsan (talk) 18:46, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
On recent reversions: please note that all above comments in this section, and all comments at Talk:Bandy/Archive 2#Rink bandy, were made by sock puppets of the same blocked editor. For the time being I have deleted the article on Rinkball that was created by this editor in violation of the indefinite block (see WP:CSD#G6). If a separate page is warranted, any editor acting in good faith is free to break it off from this article again. Dekimasuよ! 19:51, 22 May 2018 (UTC)
Rinkball
[edit]2022: I'm thinking of trying to create a new page to help separate rink bandy and rinkball. They are definitely separate sports and have different sporting bodies. I noticed the article's talk page only recently and this consideration was mentioned years before. There is more content on the sport now and rinkball may therefore pass as a separate article. Plus I'm tired of seeing/adding "rinkball" in other articles and having to direct to this page via rinkball. Page creation however is not an area I'm particularly skilled at. I tried it once before but didn't do well. Maybe I'll have better luck this time. If not, hopefully someone else eventually will. But figuring out how to redirect rinkball to a separate page called "Rinkball" could be tricky. CheckersBoard (talk) 02:03, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
- THere already is an article on rinkball, you don't have to create it today, it was done yesterday. Ove Raul (talk) 19:06, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
