Someone...

[edit]

who knows more about this subject could add something like why he wasn't in the 2000 olympics. Yonatanh 07:07, 28 June 2006 (UTC) Rigobert Song,[reply]

where does he play actually?

[edit]

the article doesn't make it clear where he plays right now. is it galatasaray or spartak moscow? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.81.74.235 (talk) 18:05, 11 February 2008 (UTC) galatasaray —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.111.130.109 (talk) 08:00, 26 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The 'fact' about scoring 3 overhead kicks in a single match is absurd and obviously wrong. He scored 4 international goals in entirely different matches Mabhijithn (talk) 18:20, 1 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Controversy" section

[edit]

Does anyone feel this is slightly WP:UNDUE? It's about a vicious tackle and insult another player made on Song. For starters, as it's about his football career it doesn't seem to belong in the "personal life" section. I also don't see how it's "controversial" (at least from Song's perspective), as the section heading suggests. Gonzonoir (talk) 15:20, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Equatorial Guinea

[edit]

Does anyone has a real source about R. Song playing in Equatorial Guinea? That seems to be a joke. Hugo.arg (talk) 22:27, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rumoured death

[edit]

Please do not add any mention of his death until a reliable source reports on it. Spiderone 10:04, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not Chad manager

[edit]

In this interview, the Chad FA president Djibrine Dembélé says that a contract was never signed. Song was never the Chad manager despite contrary reports from the BBC and French media outlets. TheBigJagielka (talk) 10:33, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Really? You think [1] is a better source than BBC Sport, The Guardian and Sky Sports, all of whom list him as "the manager of Chad since October 2015". Joseph2302 10:37, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Joseph2302: @Struway:. This article from February 2016 after the announcement of Song as manager of the Cameroon "A" team (Cameroon team composed of local talent) contains the text "Récemment manager du Cameroun sous Volker Finke, Song était annoncé l’été dernier au Tchad pour prendre en charge les Sao. Finalement, les discussions n’ont jamais abouti." Discussions were not successful.
Oumar Yaya Mahamat is the Chad coach and took control of the games against Egypt in November 2015. It seems that many media outlets have copied one another without fact checking. TheBigJagielka (talk) 13:27, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That looks to be the case. This from Dec 2015 on the English-language FIFA site also says that the reporting was inaccurate and nothing was finalised. And since the other day when you raised the matter, FIFA have updated their Chad about page to replace Mr Song's name with that of Mr Mahamat. What it is to be so influential ;-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:12, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The article's now corrected! :) TheBigJagielka (talk) 14:55, 13 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
