Merge into Boxer Rebellion?
[edit]Since this article is a stub, has two references which are dead, has misleading material about the original rebellious nature of the group, and repeats material which is in Boxer Rebellion article, where it is more logical, I propose merging it. ch (talk) 06:01, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- I've added a "mergeto" template to the article. Let's see if anyone else has an opinion.--Editor2020 (talk) 17:27, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi this should not be merged. There are info and sources available for a whole article. Benjwong (talk) 16:35, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Revised version
[edit]The old version had a number of errors -- the Boxers were not a secret society; they did not aim to overthrow the Qing; it is POV to call them "lackeys"; the "rebellion" did not last 55 days (the siege of the Legation Quarters lasted 55 days); "Western" railroads and mines were not destroyed; it is amazing to not to mention that the greatest number of people the Boxers killed were Chinese, then to mention only "Europeans" (not Americans?) and Protestant missionaries (the first ones killed were Catholics).
All in all, it seems logical to merge, but if we are to wait to turn this into a full article, then at least let's use reliable material! ch (talk) 07:20, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
- It seems to me that the two articles could be merged, unless more comes to light. Did the society survive after the rebellion? If not then probably should merge. Coastghost (talk) 03:08, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
The article should not be merged, but expanded. I have some materials about them (they were actually more of an ensemble of societies, which were initially loosely connected) and I'd like to work on it when I have more time, possibly in a few weeks (or months, alas).
