Duplication of Far-right social centre
[edit]Hi @Sometimeswrite76, I see you just made this page and I think there's a lot of duplication with the already-existing Far-right social centre. Perhaps it would be better to merge the two pages and then make this page a redirect? What do you think? Mujinga (talk) 18:39, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Mujinga. Thanks for your feedback, I know the article Far-right social centre but from my understanding Weitlingstraße for example would not really count as social centre and more as a place for communal living. So I think it would be important to differentiate the act of squatting (which I would define as more broad) and the specific practise of creating social centres. If this difference would be clear in a merge, I'm happy to do that. How does it work? Sometimeswrite76 (talk) 08:10, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- Yes it's all a bit contrary to talk of far-right social centres to begin with I'd say, since neo-Nazis don't tend to think of community in the same way as other people. Nevertheless, they do exist and whilst I take your point about the difference between squatting and social centres, I'd also like to trouble it a bit since one could say squatted social centres are simply squats with a public function, and Weitlingstraße seemed to be in that vein. The main problem however is that this new page has very little new information as compared to the already existing Far-right social centre - I think you'd need more information about far-right squatting as opposed to far-right social centres to justify this page. There are different ways to merge, probably the easiest would be to add information from here to Far-right social centre so nothing is lost (making a note in the edit summary that the information was added here first) then make this page a redirect. - Good point, I think I saw the public function of Weitlingstraße as marginally, but they claimed to be a 'project for the common good' in the beginning and let more or less outsiders stay there and use the place, so yes I think you have a point there. I'll add the content to the Far-right social centre then and try to redirect it. Thanks again for your input. Sometimeswrite76 (talk) 22:33, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- OK, sounds good, let me know if you need a hand, otherwise Wikipedia:Merging covers it well Mujinga (talk) 21:53, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- I merged the two articles now as well as possible. Maybe you can have a look at it and check if everything is ok + correct it if needed. Sometimeswrite76 (talk) 22:01, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- The merge looks well done, I'd say some of the content could be merged more eg Social Bastion, but don't sweat it, someone will sort it out at some point, cheers! Mujinga (talk) 07:58, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
