State University of New York (SUNY) is a collection of 40 or so institutions ranging from community colleges to research universities.
SUNY is not itself a degree granting institution, but the state agency overseeing many degree granting institutions.
For instance, I graduated from SUNY at Buffalo.
It would be better if someone knows the specific institution he graduated from.
