Two Richards
[edit]I have just split up the two Richard articles. I just realized now that the links here will have to be straightened out. Unfortunately, I cannot do that right now, but will be back to work on that tomorrow. I suspect this richard (1818-1873) should be Richard Yates (governor). If that's what most the links are, we are reasonably okay at the moment. I will be back. John (Jwy) 07:46, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
- I've moved the father back to Richard Yates (governor). When I'm finished with all this switching, this page will be deleted. John (Jwy) 15:10, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Birth year
[edit]Was he born in 1815 or in 1818? Many sources say 1818 but at least Biographical Directory of the United States Congress says 1815. How to solve this dilemma? 128.214.205.5 (talk) 15:31, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
He was a product of Miami University in Ohio, as was Oliver P. Morton, Governor of Indiana, and William Dennison, Governor of Ohio, all Civil War Governors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.24.29.59 (talk) 03:45, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
(19th century politician) to (19th-century politician) or (politician, born 1815)
[edit]Would there be any objection to moving this article to Richard Yates (19th-century politician) or perhaps better yet, Richard Yates (politician, born 1815)? If we stick with the word century in the title, since 19th and century are working together as a compound adjective before the noun politician, it should be hyphenated. Richard Yates (19th century politician) would remain as a redirect to the new title. If there's a consensus, or at least no objection, I'll make the move in about a week. Thank you. SchreiberBike (talk) 06:01, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
- @SchreiberBike: There is a related move request at Talk:Richard Yates, Jr.#Removing Jr. from title again for the son's article. (Also: Did we ever figure out whether this Yates, the father, was born in 1815 or 1818? And should we even have the article named that way if the year is unclear?) --Closeapple (talk) 19:14, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
- @Closeapple: I don't know anything about the subject of the article, other than that there was a grammar error in the title. If the date of birth is unclear, then perhaps Richard Yates (19th-century politician) is better. Feel free to change. Thank you. SchreiberBike talk 19:20, 22 December 2014 (UTC)
