[edit]Articles such as this could do with a steam or engineering heritage Project to cover them, like trains and trams have projects. Comment ? - BulldozerD11 (talk) 01:29, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- They could indeed -- even more so now, as there are 10s/100s of steam-related articles. I have mused on the idea several times over at [[Talk:steam engine]], but don't have the time to take it forward myself. -- EdJogg (talk) 12:07, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
GTZ Refuse Vehicle
[edit]Checking the validity of today's addition, the GTZ would indeed appear to be an electric refuse vehicle built for use in Glasgow.
Via eBay, I discovered a book by R A Whitehead "Garrett Wagons -- Part 3: Electrics & Motors" (Amazon) that covers the GTZ. The quote from the eBay seller was:
- "A must for all those interested in electric vehicles especially trolleybuses. A description from Works archives and the people involved, of the battery electrics built by Garretts including the Glasgow Corporation GTZ's refuse vehicles, the last big electrics to run in the UK. This book also contains a full account of the trolleybuses built by the firm, the first diesel lorries built in the UK and a record of the tribulations encountered in trying to enter the motor lorry market. A comprehensive list of all electric and motor vehicles is included.
- 142 pages, A4 format hardback, 150 illustrations including working drawings and many previously unpublished photographs."
I'll add this to the Further Reading section. -- EdJogg (talk) 12:15, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Additional Images
[edit]If additional images are needed for the article, I can offer these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/steffenz/5700480446/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/steffenz/5700445084/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Steffenz (talk • contribs) 06:51, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for thinking of us. The easiest way to do this is for you to upload the pictures to Wikimedia Commons. There's a link box bottom right of the article which will take you there, and help pages (when you get there) to describe the procedures and requirements. Once your pictures are available at Commons, anyone can add them here (or to any other WP site). -- EdJogg (talk) 11:51, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
OK then, here you have it:
By the way do you have an idea what categories should be assigned to the images. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Steffenz (talk • contribs) 19:08, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yup. I've added some for you. -- EdJogg (talk) 22:45, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Dry Cleaning machines
[edit]Richard Garrett & Sons also delved into the manufacture of Dry Cleaning machines, for a very few years, in their final days. I believe, when they ceased trading, this section was taken over by a company called Brown & Green, in Leicester. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.21.167.221 (talk) 19:06, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
