My Favorite Husband history
[edit]It's really not accurate to state that My Favorite Husband was the forerunner of I Love Lucy. First of all, MFH did not have the show business angle, Liz Cooper's husband was a businessman. Secondly, MFH did move to TV with the same characters but a different cast (Joan Caulfield and Barry Nelson), which was contemporaneous with the Lucy-Desi series.76.227.77.219 (talk) 17:33, 8 March 2011 (UTC)
I'd disagree with the above comment. In many ways MFH was indeed the forerunner of ILL. MFH was written by Madelyn Pugh and Bob Carroll Jr., who were also ILL writers, and some MFH episodes include plots that were later repurposed for ILL. Although the show doesn't have a direct show biz angle, Liz Cugat/Cooper does express aspirations of being discovered by a Hollywood producer in MFH (although not to the same degree as Lucy Ricardo). MFH and ILL also share musical production courtesy of Wilbur Hatch. It's not that ILL was a clone of MFH, but the work on MFH undoubtedly had a strong influence.
