Neutrality
[edit]This article is replete with POV. It needs some heavy editing. 70.211.199.59 15:50, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
Grassley
[edit]Convertino apparently went out of his way to testify before Sen. Charles Grassley's committee in a way that further embarrassed Ashcroft & DoJ. Long This American Life piece by Petra Bartosiewicz, also author of January 17, 2008 The Nation article "Experts in Terror". May be worth researching & including.

- Her book, The Best Terrorist We Could Find (?) is due out in '09. No Google hits for it yet.

Who is "Smith?" We're told Convertino and "Smith" were found not guilty, but the who the hell is "Smith?" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.54.88.103 (talk) 04:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Morford Report
[edit]The Morford Report is mentioned in the This American Life piece, and in a Detroit alt-paper, & may be a useful source.

Questions that must be asked?
[edit]There are many issues concerning wayward acts of the Dept of Justice.
There is the L A Times article by reporter Scott Glover on the dismantling of the Public Corruption containing statements that career prosecutors were "threatened" to refrain from discussing with the press any reason for the disbanding of the Unit.
There is the CSPAN testimony before Congress of Rick Detore in the James Traficant affair.
There is this issue on Rick Convertino and the speciousness of the fact that Convertino and Traficant were prosecuted after they ridiculed the Dept of Justice for failing fiduciary duties.
Yes, it is a fact, that it is "their" individual cases, however, is it not also a fact that it is "Everyones" System of Justice?
We cannot hold ourselves to be the leader of the free world when our very own Dept of Justice engages in abuse of power under the pretense or "color of law".
Lying is lying, malicious prosecution is heinous and torture is torture.

POV content
[edit]The user User:Furtive_admirer added a ton of POV and unsourced content to this article, to the point that it needed to be either all reverted or outright deleted.
I previously took the bold step of reverting Richard Convertino to a version over 1 year and 40 edits old, to fix the massive POV rewrite of the article by the now-banned User:Furtive_admirer. Most edits following the rewrite were attempts to remove POV content, though despite this, numerous POV statements and tone remained. For a few examples:
"He is a favorite of Detroit FBI agents, who like his courtroom drive."
"Jurors, for a second time, said that clearly these men were terrorists and that Convertino saved American lives by prosecuting them."
Note that the second statement is cited from [1] (Debbie Schlussel's political blog), yet is actually a quote copied verbatim from that site.
While some actual information may be salvageable, it's not something I'm prepared to invest time doing, and the article as-is absolutely cannot remain. Anyone is welcome to improve and rewrite from here on, but going back to the previous POV article is not an acceptable option.
No more reverts please, my changes were not vandalism. Lets make new constructive edits going forward. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.75.30.225 (talk) 14:00, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
