I am asking for the following updates and corrections to be incorporated into this article:
- Opening paragraph- Clermont Group's area of focus no longer include 'energy' and 'consumer.' The correct description of the company is: ...a Singapore-based business group that invests in public and private companies across a range of industries, including financial services, healthcare, and electric aerospace.
- Early life- add sourcing for Chandler's education and include information about his Master of Commerce:
He wrote his Master of Commerce thesis on corporate governance, with a focus on board structure and accountability in New Zealand.[1][2][3] - Career section-
- Include early career work: Chandler began his career at Arthur Andersen in Auckalnd and then worked at KPMG in London. In 1982,he returned to New Zealand and became the CEO of Chandler House.[3]
- Introduce subsection headers to improve readability. Suggested sections would be Sovereign, Orient Global and Clermont Group, Nobel Education Network, and Additional Business Ventures
- Correct the date of the Chandler brothers split: They agreed to split their assets in 2006, with Richard creating Orient Global and Christopher starting Legatum Capital.[4][5]
- Modifying the text about SK Corp. to more accurately reflect the details provided by this CNN source. Text should be: SK Corp. was, at the time, South Korea's fourth largest conglomerate. Sovereign had made its investment shortly after SK Corp.'s chairman, Chey Tae-won, was convicted of accounting fraud and illegal stock dealing. The remaining content in that paragraph, about the Chandler brothers' decision to rescind their investment should be supported by https://www.ft.com/content/38cdf448-f6f9-11d9-aeff-00000e2511c8 and https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB112171963422088648.
- Amending and updating the final paragraph about Chandler's stake in Hoan My Medical Corporation. Suggested language: In June 2013, Chandler’s company acquired an 80% stake in Hoan My Medical Corporation.[6][7] According to one reporter at the time, the transaction “complements the healthcare businesses the Chandler Corporation owns and operates in Indonesia and the Philippines, positioning it to become a leading private healthcare provider in Asia.” As of 2023, Hoan My owns 15 hospitals and six clinics, and is Vietnam’s largest private healthcare provider.[8]

- Partly done: The description of Clermont Group is too long. I've replaced the outdated description with a more concise one. The section is already relatively short, so I'm not sure if it would benefit from subsections. SK Corp changes have not been added because it is unclear which of the current text should be replaced. I'm unable to verify the last citation because it is behind a paywall. Throast {{ping}} me! (talk | contribs) 15:27, 25 June 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for your help, Throast! I appreciate the attention you have given this request and want to clarify some things. Specifically about the SK Corp portion of this request. I'd like to replace the current 4th paragraph of the Career section, providing more context and information. My request is that it read as follows:

- The Chandler brothers were involved in a highly publicized incident in 2005. SK Corp. was, at the time, South Korea's fourth largest conglomerate. Sovereign had made its investment shortly after SK Corp.'s chairman, Chey Tae-won, was convicted of accounting fraud and illegal stock dealing.[1] Sovereign had invested in the company just after Chey's arrest, hoping to turn it around. Richard Chandler and his brother tried twice unsuccessfully to remove Chey and ultimately pulled out for ethical reasons. By that point they had improved the company and profited US$728 million. [2] [3]
- As the FT source is paywalled, I have included the supporting quote from this source in the reference.
- I'd also appreciate it if you'd revisit the final part of the request to update the last paragraph of the Career section so that it includes current information. Here is the suggested language:

Expansion and Update of Career and Philanthropy sections
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I am requesting that the following updates be added to the Career section of the article:
- In the paragraph that begins with "They agreed to split their assets in 2006, with Richard creating Orient Global and Christopher starting Legatum Capital." Add this sentence immediately after the first sentence:
- Orient Global changed its name to Richard Chandler Corporation in April 2010 before becoming the Chandler Corporation in 2013, and the Clermont Group in 2016. [1]
- In the paragraph that begins with "In 2007 Richard Chandler launched a US$100 million education initiative...", please add this sentence to the end of the paragraph:
- In Bangladesh in 2011, he founded Newtown International, an educational bridging service focused on training and placing people for hospitality and other industries. [2]
- Please add the following two paragraphs after the paragraph that begins: "In 2007 Richard Chandler launched a US$100 million education initiative..."
- In 2009, Chandler's Clermont Group took a majority stake in Guina Energy, which rebranded as magniX in 2017. MagniX is a manufacturer of electric propulsion systems for aircraft. In December 2019, a magni500 electric propulsion unit (EPU) was used to power the first flight of a retrofitted battery-electric De Havilland Beaver seaplane, the first flight by a commercial electric aircraft. [3] [4] [5]
- In 2019, under Chandler's direction, the Clermont Group completed the majority acquisition of Eviation Aircraft, a manufacturer of all-electric aircraft. In September 2022, Eviation's Alice became the first flight-tested purpose-built all-electric airplane. [6]
- In the final paragraph of the Career section, add this sentence to update the information in the very end of the paragraph:
- As of 2023, Hoan My owns 15 hospitals and six clinics, and is Vietnam's largest private healthcare provider. [7]
In the Philanthropy section, please add this sentence as a new paragraph below the existing text of that section:
- In 2019, Chandler launched the Chandler Institute of Governance, an international non-profit organisation headquartered in Singapore.[8]

- Thank you for your clear response, Spintendo. Might you be willing to reconsider note #5 of your response? Chandler Institute of Governance does not have its own Wikipedia article and its establishment is a direct part of Richard Chandler's biography. The following sources support that Chandler is the founder and that the Institute was established in 2019. [1] [2]

Addition of familial detail
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I am requesting the following content be added to either the Education or Personal life section of this article:
Chandler is a licensed pilot. Chandler's uncle, George Watt, was a New Zealand air force pilot and involved in the development of the jet engine.[1][2]

As the citations are paywalled, I have included quoted text within the references for convenience and ease. With thanks Rob6031 (talk) 00:13, 21 July 2023 (UTC)
- Information on the various licenses that the subject may have is not germane to the article (i.e., whether the subject had a driver's license would not normally be added to the article. To that end, a pilot's license would also be included in that restriction.) Information regarding the uncle and how they were "involved" in the development of the jet engine is not specific, and were it specific, would be better placed in an article on that individual. Revised Edit Request for Consideration
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I appreciate the help the community has provided in expanding and improving this article. Thank you Schwede66, Throast, and others. I am asking for a renewed review of two specific components of the Career section discussed above; the explanations and considerations for each are underlined below:
- Replace the current 4th paragraph of the Career section to provide more context and align more closely with the CNN source and others. I suggest the paragraph read as follows:The Chandler brothers were involved in a highly publicized incident in 2005. SK Corp. was, at the time, South Korea's fourth largest conglomerate. By that point, they had improved the company and profited US$728 million. [2] [3]
- Update the last paragraph to include Chandler's current ownership status and the business details. My suggestion is to add: As of 2023, Chandler is the sole owner of Hoan My, which is Vietnam’s largest private healthcare provider with 15 hospitals and six clinics.[4][5]

[edit]- Please indicate the reasons for making these changes.[1] The stated reason was "to provide more context". However, that added context was not delineated in the request. Please state what it is, about this added context, which necessitates the changes being made.
- When ready to proceed with the requested information, kindly change the

- Thank you Spintendo for your feedback. I will try to clarify what I meant here:
- The 3rd paragraph of the career section should be modified to clarify that SK is the fourth (not third as now appears) largest conglomerate. This is supported by this CNN source.
- Also- I've tightened the requested sentence for #2 to focus on updating outdated figures. I am requesting one sentences at the very end of the last paragraph of the career section to say: As of 2023, Chandler’s company is the sole owner of Hoan My. This is supported by these two sources: https://e.vnexpress.net/news/business/companies/hoan-my-hospital-owner-reports-loss-of-2-1m-4601345.html and https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/new-zealand-billionaire-richard-chandlers-motivation-for-his-new-big-business-move/Q23I5WG5N2JQNH4ZHGF4CN3IFY/.
