Problems with article
[edit]As the article stands, we have the following issues (as I see it):
- The lead is almost verbatim from http://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/hso/sites/14115.htm.
- We need more citation throughout
- I suspect Burtis is discussed in reliable sources, but I personally doubt there is going to be much on Dowe. Material on Burtis is wholly appropriate, but material on Dowe (he bought the place in 2011) looks like a wp:coatrack and is rather promotional ("he met Jessica Smock through the love of art"?).
- Images:
- Where is File:Newspaper clipping of Burtis Home 1890s.jpg really from? Which newspaper?
- File:Burtis Home 1890s.jpg is probably okay
- File:Conrad and Jessica Dowe.JPG doesn't seem appropriate

- Possible sources are: 1) the offline NRHP nomination, 2) http://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/hso/sites/14115.htm, 3) this biographical sketch of Mr. Burtis. Chris857 (talk) 23:17, 15 December 2013 (UTC)
- I did some cleanup, removed the too-dark newspaper pic, put the acceptable 1883 pic in the info box. I rewrote the cut and paste from the MI site and updated the reference to include an archived copy. I removed the recent ownership info that had no citations. I kept the cut and paste para from the 1883 history as it was properly attributed and out of copyright. Generic1139 (talk) 20:39, 22 January 2015 (UTC)
