The topic is gigantic, even though this metal is one of the rarest. I always cringe about wiki articles that aim to describe such vast areas. IMHO, the references in this and similar articles should only be to WP:TERTIARY or super-historic primaries. It is almost ridiculous to cite primary sources. Doing so implies that you have broad perspective, which is unlikely.

The first step is to locate the books and encyclopedia articles on the topic, followed the big reviews. Here are some that appeared when I searched my institution's library:

  • Molybdenum and rhenium, 1778-1977 Sutulov, Alexander. University of Concepcion; 1976 OCLC (OCoLC)02602549; OCLC (OCoLC)ocm02602549
  • Rhenium Alverson, Larry J.; United States. Bureau of Mines.Washington : Dept. of the Interior, Bureau of Mines; 1979 OCLC (OCoLC)ocm16730524; GOVDOC I 28.37/3:R 34
  • The Chemistry of Manganese, Technetium and Rhenium Pergamon Texts in Inorganic Chemistry Kemmitt, R. D. W.; Peacock, R. D.; Bailar, J. C.; Emeléus, H. J.; Nyholm, Ronald. Elsevier Science; 1973 ISBN 1-4831-8762-4; ISBN 1-322-26202-0; ISBN 0-08-018870-2
  • Rhenium: Properties, Uses and Occurrence. James, E. Nova Science Publishers, Inc., 2017 ISBN: 9781536106626, 9781536106299
  • Rhenium chemistry – Then and Now Jonathan R. Dilworth https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ccr.2021.213822

Probably the best sources for compounds are the Re chapters of Comprehensive Coordination Chemistry and Comprehensive Organometallic Chemistry. These encyclopedia were each produced in three sets starting around 1982 with two updates. The most valuable set is the first because the others are just updates. The authors (probably J. Dilworth) are real pros whose writings can give any wiki article perspective and weighting. These sources will allow you to construct the outline.

Some semi-random partial recollected factoids: Re chem started in the late 1920's a spin-off of Curie's work on pitchblende. The deciphering of the structures of lower halides by the Russians and FACotton led to the field of M-M multiple bonds, esp ReCl3 trimer. Chevrel like Re6Se8 clusters are well developed. ReH92-. Re in medicine is a thing.

One more broad suggestion is that the organization implemented in this article should be mirrored in the "chemical compounds" section in the article rhenium.

@Smokefoot: Thanks for reviewing this article! I'm quite busy lately, so I'll look at these comments later. 141Pr {contribs} 15:58, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Smokefoot, Praseodymium-141, where does this review stand? As far as I can tell, no edits have been done to the article in the two months since the nomination was made. Unless significant work is done in the next several days, I would advise closing the nomination; it can then be renominated when the work is done. Thank you. Smokefoot, Praseodymium-141, there having been no further action in seven weeks, I am closing this effective immediately as an abandoned nomination. It can be renominated once the issues already noted have been fully addressed. BlueMoonset (talk) 21:20, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
