terminology
[edit]rhenish palatinate was never an official name for either any of the former states, districts of bavaria or rhineland-palatinate or for the region. in that respect, the german page for rheinpfalz also needs correction.
in documents, rheinpfalz was sometimes alternatively used for unterpfalz (lower palatinate) as a differentiation from the Upper Palatinate. therefore, quite correctly, the term does not appear e. g. in the article on the Electoral Palatinate.
yet, rheinpfalz is a term still very much in use, much more than it was historically. therefore it is not an "old" name.Sundar1 (talk) 08:05, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
- I've made my detailed comments at Talk:Rheinpfalz. I'm happy to accept that Germans may use Rheinpfalz for the Pfalz region, but otherwise your interpretation of English sources is taking a line that was rejected at Circle of the Rhine. There are also aspects of your changes that aren't really appropriate for a dab page. Please could I ask you to revert your changes which contravene WP:BRD. I am then happy to make some changes that recognise the first point and also an apparent error in my original text about the wine region. Thanks. Bermicourt (talk) 10:23, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
- The medieval county palatine is often called the "Rhenish Palatinate" in English. In fact, that's where to find it in Medieval Germany: An Encyclopedia, edited by John Jeep. Srnec (talk) 20:33, 25 March 2016 (UTC)
