"Santo Tomás"
[edit]No Spanish navigator would have named an island "Santo Tomé". So I corrected the former name of Socorro Island. Its correct name in Spanish would be "Santo Tomás". A Portuguese navigator would have named an island "São Tomé". But in this case an explanation would be needed regarding the nationality of the name-giving captain. At any rate "Santo Tomé" is a linguistic oxymoron.
Clarion nightsnake
[edit]According to a study published in the PLOS ONE scientific journal, the Clarion nightsnake was found again on one of the Revillagigedo Islands, more than 400 miles (650 kilometers) off Mexico's Pacific coast (MSN News http://news.msn.com/science-technology/lost-snake-species-found-on-mexican-island).

Pictures from the Presidency's Flickr account
[edit]I wanted to inform the editors of this page that I uploaded two pictures of the islands from the Flickr account of the Presidencia de la República Mexicana. Unfortunately, each image comes with a generic description and does not identify what island they are. It would be greatly appreciated if someone with knowledge of the archipelago's geography could identify them. It should also be noted that there are more images available from the World Heritage declaration ceremony available in this album. Xochiztli (talk) 00:51, 30 November 2016 (UTC)

area
[edit]I arrived here because the data on the Britannica were suspect. I feel these more sound. But I must note that sqr(4*132/pi)~13 and therefore the surface 132 for Socorro is suspect, because would be fully included in a circle of diameter 13. 151.29.149.29 (talk) 17:42, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
