GA Review

[edit]

Article (edit | visual edit | history) · Article talk (edit | history) · Watch

I loved this episode, so I hope this will be fun. I'll follow up with suggestions once I'm done with the preliminary review. Admiral Norton (talk) 17:38, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
    See below
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
Good job at keeping the summary in line with WP:PLOTSUM (433 words)
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars etc.:
It's indeed quite an effort to write such an article in one major edit.
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales): b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

Things to be corrected:

  • "The episode was filmed at various locations in and around Los Angeles, California though set in Miami, Florida, including a salvage yard..." — the part about Miami should be at the beginning of the sentence to make it less ambiguous, such as "Although set in Miami, Florida, the episode was filmed..."
  • "...the same salvage yard in which he committed a double murder..." — "where" would be better instead of "in which" Also, a link for double murder could be intriguing for readers
  • "another search" sounds better than "a re-search"
  • The link to Jesus is unnecessary.
  • Modus operandi should be spelled out as this is an encyclopedic article.
  • You should consider re-arranging the paragraphs in the plot section, as the last two double-sentence paragraphs look awkward when compared to the bulky first paragraph (and it's probably worse on screens smaller than mine)
  • "...and a Los Altos house in Long Beach, California..." — Los Altos is in the Bay Area and Long Beach is part of Los Angeles. What is this supposed to mean?
  • Use "[...]" for marking dropped text in quotes, such as Lee's comment about ad libs.
  • There are several links to C.S. Lee. Although I don't consider it a necessarily bad thing, WP:OVERLINK may apply here
  • The list of guest stars is quite extensive. You should order them alphabetically or by appearance, or at least throw out the relatively unknown cameos (such as the police officer). Admiral Norton (talk) 19:28, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think I've addressed most of your suggestions. I left the plot section as it is because (as you'd probably understand having seen the show) each episode usually has a primary A-storyline and a few B-, C- and D-stories running in the background, and this is the best way I've found to organise the whole plot in one section without breaking it up into many many small paragraphs. I alphabetised the guest star list but didn't exclude any actors because generally all are listed in the infobox. The Los Altos thing was bad linking on my part; the one referred to in the article is just a small neighbourhood in Long Beach and (besides not having its own article) is completely unrelated to the one in the Bay Area. Thanks for the review. :) —97198 (talk) 08:06, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's good. I'm passing the article :-) Admiral Norton (talk) 15:32, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
