1. Well-written:
|
|
1a. the prose is clear, concise, and understandable to an appropriately broad audience; spelling and grammar are correct.
|
Lead
- Resolution is a 2016 historical novel by English writer A. N. Wilson, a fictionalised account of the life of George Forster. Just a suggestion - I think this may read better and be clearer as two sentences, i.e. Resolution is a 2016 historical novel by English writer A. N. Wilson. It is a fictionalised account of the life of George Forster.
- Split
- The author justified turning Forster into a fictional character by stating that Forster himself had done so. I had to read this sentence a couple of times for it to make sense. I think the line you have in the Background section relating to this "fiction" point is very clear. Maybe change the line in the lead to The author justified turning Forster into a fictional character by stating that Forster himself had turned his own life into a fiction.
- Clarified (I hope)
- Much clearer thanks!
Background
- At the age of 17, he accompanied his father Reinhold, the naturalist on the 1772–1775 second voyage of James Cook. Not sure if the comma is in the correct place here? Perhaps it could read instead: At the age of 17, he accompanied his father Reinhold, who was also a naturalist, on the 1772–1775 second voyage of James Cook.
- Clarified. When George was 17, it is debatable whether he was already a naturalist. His father was not just a naturalist, but was on board Resolution as naturalist (after Joseph Banks decided not to go because he didn't like the ship)
- To explain why he wrote a fictionalised account instead of a biography ... For clarity, I'd suggested adding: To explain why he wrote a fictionalised account of George Forster instead of a biography ...
- Clarified

1b. it complies with the Manual of Style guidelines for lead sections, layout, words to watch, fiction, and list incorporation.
|
Lead
- There is no short description at the moment. I'd suggest: 2016 novel by A. N. Wilson as per WP:SDEXAMPLES.
- Went for "2016 historical novel" as "Wilson" is already in the disambiguator and I think we should keep redundancy with the title low.
- It may be worth saying who George Forster was in the lead. E.g. ... a fictionalised account of the life of the 18th century German naturalist, writer and revolutionary George Forster.
- Done.
General comments
- Complies with lead section and layout guidance. No words to watch identified. No lists. Happy that the presentation of fiction within the Content section is sufficiently clear.
