Propose Afd
[edit]I propose Afd on the following grounds
- Copyright violations and other material violating Wikipedia's non-free content criteria
- Vandalism, including inflammatory redirects, pages that exist only to disparage their subject, patent nonsense, or gibberish
- Content forks (unless a merger or redirect is appropriate)
If any editors have more grounds to add to the list, please do. Tfz 15:11, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
- I support. Mooretwin (talk) 21:55, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- No support.--Vintagekits (talk) 22:08, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
Question: What copyright violations are there? BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 22:55, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Now I'm confused. Tfz was part of the little group that deemed this page should be deleted a few months ago. Now he is restoring it. The content remains the same, the agenda is the only thing that has changed, apparently. What gives? Rockpocket 00:08, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
Duplication of content with 'Names of the Irish state'
[edit]I'm not sure why we have this article. The material is fully covered in Names of the Irish state. The title Republic of Ireland (name) redirects there rather than here. Why does this article exist? --Red King (talk) 19:34, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- I only saw this article today. Names of the Irish state exists, but it a long article. An article on the term Éire exists. Along a similar vein, Republic of Ireland is worthy of an entry as a notable term about which there is interest and confusion. --RA (talk) 19:46, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- If there is an article called Éire (term) (or Eire (term), I can't see it.
- Yes, names of the Irish state is long, but why not have Republic of Ireland (term) redirect by #section title to it. And to senisble about this, who is going to search for "Republic of Ireland (term)"? I say again, it is a pointless fork. --Red King (talk) 19:40, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
- This is a pointless article that should be deleted. Mooretwin (talk) 09:23, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- We don't have an article at Éire (term) because there is no need for disambiguation. The article on the term "Éire" is located simply at Éire.
- I don't believe this article is a fork. I believe it is spun out from Names of the Irish state. There is a crucial difference. On the other hand, I wouldn't shed a tear if it was re-integrated into the main article. --RA (talk) 11:03, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
- This article seems to carry a point of view compared to the Names of the Irish state article. It completely misses out that any new British laws refer to 'Ireland' and the BBC and the newspapers do likewise when there's no confusion. Even the Telegraph referred to the Queen's visit to Ireland rather than the Republic of Ireland and it's as hidebound as you get.
Request to merge this article into 'Names of the Irish state'
[edit]I believe this article should be merged into the Names of the Irish state article as an unnecessary fork and liable to such POV especially as it wouldn't be looked at much. It doesn't seem to be referred to from the other article and I'd hesitate to put such a link in with the current state of this article. Dmcq (talk) 20:03, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
- Merge because this is not an essential fork.--Red King (talk) 17:15, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
- Merge per nom. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 23:26, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
- Merge as Names of the Irish state discusses all the related issues, which of necessity this article cannot. Andrew Gwilliam (talk) 23:54, 20 November 2011 (UTC).
- Merge per nom. Mooretwin (talk) 00:06, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- Seems pretty clear so I guess I better do something. Dmcq (talk) 13:37, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
