Reply vs Respond and Sur-Reply

[edit]

I feel this article should give 2 common examples of "replies" and distinguish them from "responses." Common examples are always good. To my understanding if a party makes a motion (to stop (quash) a subpeona for example), the other party "responds", and then party making the motion (to quash) then "replies'. Since the moving party normally bears the burden of proof they are allowed to go both first and last. However, the non-moving responding party can make a motion to file a "sur-reply" to moving parties reply. I'm almost sure this is correct, but don't like to make changes to main pages. 2601:5C4:4301:217C:8123:442D:1F03:ECFC (talk) 20:55, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
