Series Outcome
[edit]Even though the Soviets scored one more goal in the series, it is considered a tie. The citation at the end of the introduction contains a quote from Viktor Tikhonov which clearly shows that they made no claim to victory. However, one particular user continually tries to force in the statement that the Soviets won the series on aggregate. They did not. It was a tie, end of story.88.103.9.230 (talk) 15:40, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Czechoslovakia
[edit]I'm curious, but does anyone know why Czechoslovakia was not represented amongst NHLers? It would make sense that Quebec's best player at the time, Peter Stastny (who was a Canadian citizen), would play in front on his home crowd. Yankees76
- Since he defected to Canada in 1980 he might have been afraid that the soviet players would be extra tough on him. Maybe it was a silent agreament, between NHL and the soviets, that they (the russians) wouldn't come if they had to face a defectee on the ice. But that's just my personal thoughts...I can't back it up. - Stealth
- I doubt that has anything to do with it. Reading his stats, he played only 64 games that season, so he might have been injured at the time. I doubt there was any fear on his part or any backdoor politics . . . he had faced both Czechoslovakia and the USSR as a member of Team Canada at the 1984 Canada Cup. It does seem natural that he'd be selected since it was in Quebec. 88.102.148.34 (talk) 15:44, 22 March 2009 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:NHL-Rendez-vous87.gif
[edit]Image:NHL-Rendez-vous87.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:55, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Assessment
[edit]I have assessed this as Start Class, as it contains more detail and organization than would be expected of a Stub (although it requires more referencing and in-line citations), and of low importance, as it is a highly specific event within Canada. Cheers, CP 16:10, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
POV
[edit]the biased officiating that showed its ugly head in the first game
yea.... this seems a little biased. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.45.174.216 (talk) 01:09, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
