Date of Birth

The official Olympics website gives MacDonald's year of birth as 1904. Another site (https://web.archive.org/web/20200418095429/https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/ma/rena-macdonald-1.html) gives 3rd April 1907 and birth place as Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia.

A niece of MacDonald's states that she was born in 1st September 1904 in West Lakevale, Antigonish, Nova Scotia. She gives the source as St. Columba Church Baptism records (and notes that the family name sometimes appears as McDonald in records). I have not changed the entry as I am unable to verify this.

Newspaper obituaries from November 1958 give her age as 51, consistent with a 1907 birth date.
