NPOV
[edit]Recent additions to the article started a mini edit war, with some legal threats made and an IP rightfully banned. While the IP's behavior was and wholesale removal of content was inappropriate, the recent edits were pretty much entirely biased against Simasius both in their content and language, not consistent with WP:BLP and WP:Criticism. I will try to edit the section shortly and objections should be discussed here. No longer a penguin (talk) 12:48, 18 July 2017 (UTC)
- No longer a penguin, edits made by me contain objective, factually true and verifiable info. I tried to be neutral as much as possible. However, if you feel that NPOV is missing in my edits, feel free to edit. Looking forward to your adjustments. Atlassian (talk) 10:21, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
- Atlassian, I appreciate your efforts and assume they were made in good faith. However, I believe that some of the additions were biased, while others lacked significance (a facebook tirade from a musician is hardly a notable criticism for a politician). I have made adjustments. If you disagree about a particular peace of information that was removed or how a particular item is worded, let's discuss it here first, for BLP reasons. - @No longer a penguin: I saw your edit, and I think the part in brackets should have stayed (In an interview with Lietuvos Rytas, Šimašius revealed that he has difficult time accepting criticism and has little regard to what other people think about him.[1] ). This information is highly relevant for a bio and is credible as it comes from the person himself. Other than that, your edit is definitely an improvement. Atlassian (talk) 11:56, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
- I thought that part was taken a bit out of context. The first part of the sentence ("Šimašius revealed that he has difficult time accepting criticism") stems from his answer (What is most difficult for you in your job? Criticism). It states nothing about "accepting" criticism, although that is how the author re-stated it in the headline. The second part comes from his words "truth be told, I don't really pay attention to what strangers talk about me. It's much more important what people close to me think". "Has little regard to what other people think about him" definitely has a more confrontational edge to it, which his actual response does not. If this is to be kept, I would reword it: "Šimašius revealed that while he finds criticism of his decisions the most difficult aspect of his job as a mayor, he cares more about what people closest to him think, than about the opinions expressed by strangers". But that just sound trivial, something that would be published in a lifestyle magazine (which it was), so I would left it out entirely. No longer a penguin (talk) 12:16, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
- @No longer a penguin: +1, great answer. Better to leave it out. Atlassian (talk) 13:55, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
