Some notes on editions

[edit]

The infobox documents the first edition by Scott Foresman. There are also printings by Scholastic Book Services. Many articles refer to Lothrop, Lee & Shepard as the publisher, but that's evidently not correct (the copyright page of my Scholastic edition states that the copyright was held by Scott Foresman).

A second edition was published in 1995, with a few new editors, and evidently new poems. ISBN 0673294234. I'm not sure how to handle the separation, particularly since most of the sources seems to refer just to the first edition. I'm guessing, but I can't say, the second edition didn't really step into the shoes of the first. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 19:16, 13 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion of the second edition:
  • Sato, Kyoko (November 1995). "Engaging Students in Poetry". English Journal. 84 (7): 89–91. JSTOR 820595. {{cite journal}}: Unknown parameter |subscription= ignored (|url-access= suggested) (help)
  • Jongsma, Kathleen Stumpf (1995). "Democratic Schooling Has Different Interpretations". Educational Horizons. 73 (2): 51–53. JSTOR 42925091. {{cite journal}}: Unknown parameter |subscription= ignored (|url-access= suggested) (help)
Really not much on it out there, at least not easily findable. HathiTrust, though, makes it pretty clear there are quite a few works out there that mention Watermelon Pickle... just that they'll have to be found in print to see just how useful they are. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 03:21, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Graphic design award?

[edit]

According to the obituary for Leo Kneer, who was the editorial director for high school language arts at Scott Foresman, Reflections won a graphics design award. While the obit is signed, it doesn't provide much detail (i.e., what award, when it was awarded), and obits are rough for sourcing claims. Need to investigate this further. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 05:18, 14 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
