[edit]Red Legs- Paramilitary force that operated on the border of Missouri and Kansas during the Civil War. Was form under the direction of Union General Ewing. Wild Bill Hickock was a member. The force never totalled more than 50 or 60 men. None of its members recorded a history. Members of the unit often wore red leather leggings during operations. The University of Kansas Football club often wears red stockings when playing the University of Missouri in remembrance of those original Jayhawkers. 4.88.174.181 18:45, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
