In regards to the metaphor
[edit]Yes, it can be seen. But I don't see it, and quite frankly my version can be seen just as clearly by me as yours can be by you. Just give me some sort of indicator that this wasn't just an idea you came up with, that there was prior reasearch. -Litefantastic 23:57, 26 September 2005 (UTC)
- Research? I wouldn't even dignify the theory with such a name, but it is still an interpretation. I didn't come up with the Imperialism interpretation, and it is certainly supported to an extent by HG Wells' mention of the extinction of the Tasmanians in the book. There is much more wild stuff in the last section about the "spinoffs" or whatever you want to call them. --MacRusgail 18:18, 27 September 2005 (UTC)
I understand what you mean by the fact that it's entirely possible, but putting 2 and 2 together is still original research. Is there any indication that others have expressed such views? I mean, everyone knows about the Imperialism metaphor, but has there been similiar citations in reference to the red weed? Because that would help your case. Just citing a possible scenerio you've discovered is not enyclopedic. At the least, it needs to better worded because there's a tense of personal perspective floating in the way it currently reads. --Bacteria 11:12, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
- What is needed is a commentary on WotW where the author identifies that metaphor. An article or whatever where that opinion is expressed, otherwise it will have to come out. 87.194.30.174 (talk) 02:16, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
This looks like a fragment, seems the original comment about imperialism was deleted.Teddyg3892 (talk) 01:59, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
