I believe that this event actually occurred on what we now call the Canadian River. My understanding is that "back in the day" that the Canadian was called the Red. My understanding of the present Red River in Taos County, was called the Rio Colorado in 1846, after the name of the community that we call Questa today. Gordontaos (talk) 04:05, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
Gave an explanatory sentence as to the fact that the Missouri Volunteers incorrectly named the river in question as the Red River, rather than it's correct name, the Canadian River.Gordontaos (talk) 09:40, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Additionally added the source for the explanation of the difference in names. Also, if you continue to page 709 of the source, Major Edmunson clearly states that the location of the battle was relatively close to Wagon Mound, NM. Wagon Mound is almost 80 miles from the present town of Red River NM, which did not even exist in 1847. Also, how can we change the photo of the babbling trout stream of the Red River to the more placid flowing Canadian River?Gordontaos (talk) 09:52, 6 April 2014 (UTC)
Merge article - notes
[edit]This article is one of three battle articles that were linked in Taos_Revolt#Further fighting, now to be merged into it. The same editor created all four, outed as a fabulist by Keith H99, then as sockpuppet $1LENCE D00600D.
