Kittengate
[edit]How MacKinnon and a colleague once 'vandalised' this article to show students how Wikipedia works.
|
---|
This article was vandalised twice by David D. Weinberger of Harvard Law School Berkman Center for Internet and Society. [1] He may think he's entitled to do that because of who he is, but it was really pretty lame. You can't make a meaningful point about how Wikipedia compares with traditional reference sources by vandalising an article about someone who wouldn't come close to getting an article in one. The article Rebecca MacKinnon was vandalized by "Samuel J. Klein [Harvard class of 19]’99, who introduced himself as a Wikipedia administrator and steward" as Kittenmarks at 23:27, 15 March 2006 (UTC) in this edit to state 'She is regularly referred to as a "kitten-eating cyborg", for reasons that are not entirely clear.' according to The Harvard Crimson :: News :: Fellow: Is Wikipedia Legit?. The vandalism was continued by 140.247.249.189, AaronSw, Dweinberger, 66.108.224.98, 62.25.109.6, Molindo, Rompe, and 67.181.63.245. This nonsense was first reverted by Eloquence at 10:08, 16 March 2006 (UTC) in this edit. This appears to be a continuation of a joke started January 19, 2005 at Dohiyi Mir: New Horrible Evidence Of Evil Kitten-Eating Cyborgs and referenced at Anonymous Whistleblower Accuses Berkman Fellows of Ceremonially Feasting Upon Live Kittens, formerly Rebecca Mackinnon: Kitten Eater (and she's rumored to hate both America and Jesus, too. She's also a rapper.), The Censoring of the Self | Nick Lewis: The Blog , Kittengate | Nick Lewis: The Blog, RConversation: Kittengate, Conference F.A.Q., EVIL CYBORGS ATTACK!: Evil Cyborgs Assimmilate Harvard!!!!!!!, EVIL CYBORGS ATTACK!: NO WORRIES, PROMINENT BLOGGERS!!!, Bill O'Reilly Gives his Take on Kittengate | The Progressive Blog Alliance HQ, Blogging, Journalism & Credibility » Disclaimers, and Dohiyi Mir: Resistance Is Futile.

Public letter to Obama
[edit]Rebecca MacKinnon on January 28, 2009 published an open letter to President Obama http://rconversation.blogs.com/rconversation/2009/01/dear-president-obama-in-talking-to-china-remember-its-people.html, I think this is a very important document. I nominate this Open-letter to be included into Wikisource. Arilang talk 09:47, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
