The result of the move request was: moved per request with Rational redirected to Rationality. Favonian (talk) 20:20, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

RationalRational (disambiguation) – Virtually every entry on this page is a partial title match, and the few that are not of of trivial importance compared to the basic concept of Rationality. I would move this page to a "Foo (disambiguation)" title and redirect this adjective to its noun form, Rationality. Relisted. • Oppose "rationals" are the common form for "rational numbers", and are very frequently found in that form. It's covered more than rationality in basic schooling as well. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 05:40, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • This proposal pertains to "Rational", not "Rationals". bd2412 T 11:30, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
      • Singular versus plural, "rational" is the singular form of "rationals" -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 11:47, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
        • I have heard mathematicians refer to the set of rational numbers as "rationals", but I have never heard of an individual number being referred to as "a rational". I have searched math books on Google Books and found zero uses of the singular "rational" to describe a number other than as part of a phrase or clause, "rational number" (or "rational and irrational numbers"). It seems to be exceedingly rare for the singular "rational" to be used to refer to a number outside of the phrase, "rational number", and is probably equally rare for the plural "rationals" to be used to refer to anything else. bd2412 T 12:34, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Rational number is a strong secondary topic, but among the general, mathematically illiterate population, rationality is the main one (although a lot of them wouldn't recognize it if it bit them on their ass). I've also cleared out all the partial matches. Clarityfiend (talk) 23:17, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong support, but with a hatnote giving a direct link to rational number and leaving rationals as a redirect to rational number. Red Slash 00:13, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
