Sgt. Pepper Inner Groove
[edit]Does it loop continously on this album like it does on Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band? --Ian911299
- I can only answer about the British Sgt. Pepper LP in which the inner groove is heard right on the runout groove with the final three or so sylliables repeated over and over on the final groove until you take the tonearm off the LP. Steelbeard1 21:44, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
- I have the US Rarities LP. It only plays the snippet for about 3 seconds, or once through. The inner groove is silent. Cheemo 06:49, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you. Ian911299 05:43, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

AMG Review
[edit]Has anyone noticed how a lot of AMG reviews (like the one for this album) are written in the present tense? What I mean is they are reviewing this album from todays stand point (stating that all these songs are virtually available in the US elsewhere). While I could understand it if the album was still in print, as far as I'm aware it has never been issued on CD. So any crictism of this album that takes into account facts after the event is pretty much mute. At this time this was the only way American's could buy early cuts such as "There's a place", which had not been available in the US for many years since the original Vee Jay record was pulled from the market. Just a thought. 205.188.116.8 14:29, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Move
[edit]I moved this page to Rarities (The Beatles US album) but it was moved back. I did not believe it needed discussion because I thought it was a simple uncontroversial move to shorten "American" to "US" as per convention. McLerristarr (Mclay1) (talk) 13:50, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Rarities (The Beatles American album) → Rarities (1980 The Beatles album) — Relisted. Need to decide between the rename options suggested after the nomination. Vegaswikian (talk) 21:18, 15 August 2010 (UTC) Convention is to use US. I moved this page but it was moved back because it had not been discussed. I did not believe this needed discussing. See above. McLerristarr (Mclay1) (talk) 07:49, 7 August 2010 (UTC) I've decided that Rarities (1980 The Beatles album) is the best title and have altered my move request. - The album was also available in Canada so calling it a US album would be incorrect. However, I would support a move to Rarities (The Beatles 1980 album) or Rarities (The Beatles Capitol album) as the other Rarities album was released in 1978 and by Parlophone. --JD554 (talk) 13:15, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

- I checked the albums WikiProject for naming guidelines, and it indicates that the proper disambiguation in this case is to use the year:
The article name should be the title of the album, disambiguated if necessary. Do not pre-emptively disambiguate! When there is no other encyclopedic use of the album title, the article should reside at the normal name, e.g. London Calling, not London Calling (album). In cases where disambiguation is needed, the term (EP) should be used for EPs, (video) for video albums and (album) for other albums, e.g. Insomniac (album) and Gas Food Lodging (EP). For multiple albums with the same title, use the artist name to distinguish the different albums, e.g. Down to Earth (Rainbow album) and Down to Earth (Ozzy Osbourne album). For artists who release multiple albums with the same name, disambiguate by year, e.g. Weezer (1994 album) and Weezer (2001 album) (unless the albums were released the same year, in which case they can be disambiguated by some commonly accepted convention).

- So according to that, we would have to move Rarities (The Beatles American album) to Rarities (1980 album) and Rarities (The Beatles album) to Rarities (1978 album). But the problem with that is there are non-Beatles albums called Rarities. It doesn't mention a rule where there are multiple artists with the same album title and one of them has multiple albums with the same title. So maybe moving moving Rarities (The Beatles American album) to Rarities (The Beatles 1980 album) and Rarities (The Beatles album) to Rarities (The Beatles 1978 album) is correct. However, that doesn't sound right if it were, for example, (John Lennon 1980 album); it would sound better as (1980 John Lennon album). McLerristarr (Mclay1) (talk) 04:43, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- So are you saying you support a move to Rarities (1980 The Beatles album) (or perhaps Rarities (1980 Beatles album))? I have no objection to either of those; I just support using the year to disambiguate, instead of the country or the label. Propaniac (talk) 13:18, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Those two suggestions are the same except you have unbalanced brackets on the second. McLerristarr | Mclay1 13:33, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, corrected to what I meant to write. I don't know why that prevented you from stating what title you think would be best, but please make such an indication so that we can hopefully find consensus. Propaniac (talk) 17:02, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
- I wanted to know what your second suggestion was. I think the latter sounds better, however it does not conform with others. I would prefer the latter but I'm sure there will be some Wikipedians who would say that only the former is correct. McLerristarr | Mclay1 23:09, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

I think Rarities (1980 The Beatles album) is best. Rarities (The Beatles 1980 album) would require an apostrophe. McLerristarr | Mclay1 04:58, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
