The result of the move request was: moved to Raphael Falk (geneticist), since this would seem to, minimally, be a step in the right direction. But no prejudice against future move discussions, especially if a case if to be made that the geneticist is indeed the primary topic. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 16:04, 27 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Raphael Falk (academic)Rafi Falk – Per WP:COMMONNAME "When there are multiple names for a subject, all of which are fairly common, and the most common has problems, it is perfectly reasonable to choose one of the others." and "Although official, scientific, birth, original, or trademarked names are often used for article titles, the term or name most typically used in reliable sources is generally preferred." as well as per WP:NATURAL.[1][2][3] gidonb (talk) 10:33, 13 February 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Sceptre (talk) 14:38, 20 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm ... alternatively, I wonder if the the Russian chess player "Raphael Falk" should be occupying the disambiguated name space or whether that page should be at Raphael Falk (chess player). On moving to "Rafi": Ngrams demurs. Iskandar323 (talk) 11:26, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Iskandar323, thank you for this response! Can you perhaps click on link number 3 above and explain why these mentions of Rafi Falk are not being picked up by Google Books Ngrams? gidonb (talk) 14:19, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure: I don't know how the google books search algorithm works, BUT, when I look at the results, one thing that jumps out is that all of the mentions are in sections 'thanking' Falk, and a number of the references are clearly in the appendices, so perhaps it has something to do with them not being in the body copy of the works, but the acknowledgements. In contrast, when he is cited professionally, he is referred to in formal terms. Iskandar323 (talk) 14:25, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Further to this comment I went ahead and moved the chess player page and created the disambiguation, since the chess player is clearly not the primary topic. Iskandar323 (talk) 18:56, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's not clear to me that either of the two articles at Raphael Falk (disambiguation) are WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, so I think it would be preferable to keep the disambiguation there. If that choice is made, then moving this article to Rafi Falk makes sense per WP:NATURAL, despite his use of the full name professionally. Oren Harman's "known to all as Rafi" adds to the weight for using this name. On the other hand I would prefer not to see a sequence of moves that places the chess player as the primary topic at "Raphael Falk", so my support for "Rafi Falk" is conditional on keeping the dab in place. —David Eppstein (talk) 18:21, 14 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
