[edit]I am a student at LSU and I would like to add to this page for my Gender Studies class. I plan on adding more examples to how woman follow the rape schedule, statistical information on rape, and how the rape schedule effects sexual assault survivors. - @Adam (Wiki Ed): - shouldn't a required part of course schedules like Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/Louisiana State University/Intro to WGS Sec 1 (Spring 2016) (and its template) be for student editors to assess any response by other editors to the changes they have made? Thus far I have seen no acknowledgement or understanding from Bethani regarding the problems with her edit, and nor does the course schedule require any such thing. Is this right? - Hi MPS1992. We implore students to listen and reply to editor feedback in our student training modules and our communication with instructors. I'm not sure how we might compel students to do so using the template. If you can't get ahold of a student let me know and I'll forward that info to the instructor or work with the editor myself (I'll take a look at Bethani's contributions in a bit). - @MPS1992:. I've left a note for the instructor asking them to remind students to take a look at their mentions. Please try to remember that students are just like any other new editor--they can be confused or intimidated by the messages they receive (especially since they'll receive and may not know how to distinguish between semi-automated and manual posts). Further, in this case you left a note for the student and they haven't since your note edited this page; unless they're ignoring the message (i.e. continuing to edit the page in question) there's no requirement that they reply. - Hi everyone- MPS1992 and Adam (Wiki Ed) - I appreciate the conversation. If you'd like my student to post some of the citations, she'll be able to do that once she's done some more research and some writing. They have just started their research and writing, and they are aware that once they get closer to posting the writing to the actual article pages, they will need to work with editors and folks monitoring Wikipedia. We also reviewed communication on wikipedia yesterday and I have reminded them to reply to users that ping them. I've asked her to include her signature after her message above. For now, the students will be working in their sandboxes and anything they want to add will undergo revision by me as well as other students in the class. - MPS1992 I apologize, I do have an account. I had just forgotten to cite my name at the end. I will be using both popular and academic sources. They can be made available to you later on into the semester. We are doing this assignment step by step as a class. - SmallTowne12, Transunicorn, thank you, that's great. It's worth being cautious of popular sources as opposed to academic ones - I'm sure that will be covered in the course. But on the other hand, popular sources can mean many very different things, and the sources I use myself are usually not very academic :)

Sourcing and scope
[edit]Hi, SmallTowne12 and the other student editors from LSU adding to this page. I reverted a few additions to this page due to sourcing concerns, but I think solving that will help solve a bigger issue with this article. Right now the article is an introduction followed by an overview, and much of that content comes from establishing context to the reader for the page they're on.
As MPS1992 notes above, it's worthwhile to be cautious about using those sources. But it's also unnecessary. We have articles on rape culture and Slut-shaming and other closely related topics. This article should link out to different articles so that the majority of the text on the page can be devoted to this subject, relying mainly on sources which address this subject specifically. - Speaking of, the 1-in-7 women claim seems dubious, especially considering the 1-in-3/4/5 one has been thoroughly debunked by now, on multiple sources, if one cares to look it up.
