"Dew-fee"?

Image
[edit]The image Victory Rooster, pencil sketch for a silk scarf (1918) posted by Racconish was removed twice from the article by myself. It is out of focus, excessively cropped and no source is provided. On its description page, it is said to be in the collection of the Musée National d'Art Moderne in Paris. I have found no record of it there, and have asked for a source. Also, according its the Fair use rationale, this is a "significant work", its inclusion in the article "adds significantly to the article": obviously not the case. There is a work at Musée national d'art moderne: La Fin de la Grande Guerre (1915), but this is obviously not the same work. Coldcreation (talk) 21:56, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
- Coldcreation, apologies : I had not realized your previous revert. The source of the image is Dora Perez-Tibi's Dufy. The image is reproduced page 113. Caption : "Etude pour le Drapeau de la Victoire, 1918. Mine de plomb. Paris, musée national d'art moderne". Cheers, — Racconish ☎ 07:53, 8 February 2017 (UTC)

- Coldcreation Ok then ? — Racconish ☎ 13:07, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
- Racconish, do you have, or can you find, an image of the work that is in focus and uncropped? Note, if you would like to upload works by Dufy, there are a few in the public domain available at Gallica - Bibliothèque nationale de France. Such as here, here, and here: Others too if published before 1923. The rooster adds little to the article, and it's copyright is protected. Coldcreation (talk) 13:41, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
- Coldcreation, all the reproductions of Dufy's works from the Fonds Albert Pomme de Mirimonde are not in the public domain in France, despite the blanket mention by Gallica for the fonds. They repeat File:Raoul Dufy, Le grand concert.jpg (which should be moved to WP as it is fair use) and do not help illustrate Dufy's decorative work. I had put the rooster image because it is an example selected by a specialist of Dufy of an artistic work which is the basis for a later application to decorative arts (see File:Victory rooster.jpg). It is perfectly in line with the fair use policy to upload a lower res cropped image. I still consider we should illustrate Dufy's decorative work and I have supplied the requested source but it does not have to be this image and I agree the Victory Rooster is not the most illustrative decorative work by Dufy.— Racconish ☎ 07:44, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
- Racconish, thanks for your explanation. In that light feel free to post the image back in the article. Perhaps it could be mentioned in the caption that it is the 'basis for a later application to decorative arts'. Coldcreation (talk) 12:02, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
- Any other idea to better illustrate the subject ? Maybe a woodblock from the Bestaire ? Dufy said somewhere it was his original research work for decorative arts... — Racconish ☎ 13:56, 9 February 2017 (UTC)

Bestiare sounds like a great idea. Also maybe La Fin de la Grande Guerre (1915) linked above. The motif is similar to the "Etude pour le Drapeau de la Victoire, 1918. Coldcreation (talk) 15:31, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
