Prison?

Well I have heard many things about this. But the most credible account was from a mature student who had resided in sheffield for 24 years. He told me it was from a design for an old Swedish Womens Prison. This could account for the tutor rooms in each block which might have been for guard rooms and the confusing nature of the way the whole place was designed. I still got lost after almost a year living there. Miss that place lots now though!

Hmmm, I'm still not convinced. Technically, it should be taken out without sources to varify it, but this isn't exactly going for featured article status, so I won't delete it if you're pretty sure its right. Apparently the first year architects are told (through the grapevine) that it was based on a Swedish women's prison. Don't know how true this is though.

My tutor told me that almost every university he's been to has a hall of residence that's rumoured to be based on a Swedish women's prison. I think it's just an urban myth. I did hear that someone killed themselves from jumping/falling out a window here though, I don't know if that's true.

Abuse of this page

Quite a few people are abusing this page and adding personal references. Additionally any reference to the Ranmoor Ghost is not true. It is a joke being perpretrated by some current residents.

Is it possible to change this page so that administrative approval is needed before changes show up?

Hopefully that won't be necessary. Vandalism doesn't seem to be occurring too frequently and appears to be quickly reverted. Worth keeping an eye on though. Mrf-rouk 17:51, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
