[edit]

What of Canada's ranks? Last I checked, Canada was part of NATO.

Canada's ranks are pretty much the same in all brances of the armed forces. Insignia and epaulettes are identical, except for background colours, and the navy is a bit different, having admirals instead of generals.

What's wrong with Turkey. Turkey is a NATO country, too.

Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States are NATO members. This list features as of 7 december 2006 Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom and Untited States. The list is incomplete and there is nothing "wrong" with the countries not listed. They will be listed as images are made available.Inge 15:58, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chief Warrant Officers

[edit]

United States Navy utilizes the NATO grades WO-2 through WO-5, this article should probably reflect that similar to the Ranks and insignia of NATO Armies Officers article. See the Warrant Officer (United States) for insignia. --Born2flie 20:01, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

British Ranks formatting

[edit]

For some reason that is beyond my knowledge of the wiki code, the British ranks aren't falling into columns. Sirkha 19:14, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

I trust that I am not being cretinously dense here, but the title of this page (& the Enlisted page for that matter) is surely wrong? There should surely be an apostrophe - eg Ranks and insignia of NATO Navies' Officers?

[edit]

The image Image:Navy sleeve ASlt.png is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.

RN Midshipman is OF1 NOT OF(D)

[edit]

Having been an Mid RN, Midshipman in the RN became a commissioned rank and therefore OF1 in 2007/08. Will be able to provide a reference soon. --Noofworm (talk) 12:40, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:50px-TR-NAVY-OF10.gif Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]

An image used in this article, File:50px-TR-NAVY-OF10.gif, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 18 September 2011

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

UK Navy --> Royal Navy

[edit]

The official and common names of this Navy is the Royal Navy (RN). I would suggest changing "United Kingdom Navy" to the "Royal Navy", or if country should be clarified due to other royal navies, then I would suggest "Royal Navy (UK)". 2A00:23C6:6F04:5B01:A432:9620:8DD4:F53C (talk) 15:42, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
