[edit]Glad this article exists, but concerned it may be declared too trivial or obscure for a wikipedia article and soon be on the chopping block. I think it belongs, but just needs to some work. And if you think we've heard a lot about the term already, just wait 'til EV's are being bought and driven in any number.
And I'm also wondering about the term's origins. Though its been popularized by talk of the Chevy Volt, I know the phenomenon (though I'm not certain about the term) is common among natural gas vehicles. Is the term's use overwhelming in regard to EV's?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.254.86.214 (talk • contribs)
- Hello, and welcome to wikipedia. Yes, the psychological phenomenon is primarily used for non-gasoline vehicles...primarily electric vehicles.. I haven't seen the term used in any other fashion... If you're interested, there is a reuters blog and another article on it. I'm not sure of the term's origins...but it seems to be straightfoward=P. As for the chopping block...I've made over a hundred articles here, and the only one that has gotten chopped is Debrahlee Lorenzana...and its getting overturned=). I will add additional sources to the article to ensure it doesn't get chopped. Wikipedia is full of seemingly trivial and obscure articles...and thats what makes it special. Psych stub
[edit]This isn't a psychology stub, "anxiety" is used in a pejorative sense. Find me a psych journal article on this subject and I'll change my mind. Being a "mental misconception" doesn't make something a psychological issue; list of common misconceptions is not a psychology entry. I'm not even sure what you mean by "mental misconception" since this is an idea about cars. Hairhorn (talk) 12:47, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
Axe?
[edit]This whole concept is just first-world-problems ego stroking for EV owners. It's just anxiety. No one's going to create an article for Bathroom anxiety (same concept as "range anxiety.") Chop it. 69.132.154.126 (talk) 12:52, 23 January 2024 (UTC)
- Well, this article illustrates the situation of the early 2010s, and the inability of WP to keep up. With range of EVs getting bigger, and ICE drivers wanting to make a point that their cars can go on for many hours, "toilet anxiety" now has gone the other way, with some people driving longer than it is comfortable.
