A good title for this article?
[edit]I've been trying all day to figure out a suitable title for this article. The current title, "Maryland Route 183," reflects a route number that hasn't been assigned to this road in over 30 years. I first called this article "Randolph Road," but this road actually has three different names. Only one section of this long road goes by that name, and it is not even the portion that has the road's only interchange with an interstate highway, or that currently has a route number. A minute section of this long road around the interchange currently has a route number, but the remainder doesn't. I have thought about using all three names in the title of this article, but previously, when I have done this on Wikipedia, it hasn't been well-liked by others due to the complexity of such a title. Any suggestions?Sebwite (talk) 23:43, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- The first sentence clarifies that it's no longer actually MD 183, so I'd say the current title is good. --Bossi (talk • gallery • contrib) 03:43, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thing is, the entire road didn't even carry that designation when it was in effect. It was only the Randolph Road portion, and then not even all of that. Using all three names would be a bad idea. I'd be in favor of using "Randolph Road" as the title due to its being the middle of the three sections, and the one that carried the state highway designation, and redirect the other two names to the article. - I just looked up that Montrose Road is 3.4 miles in length, Randolph Road is 9.2 miles, and Cherry Hill Road is 4.1 miles. Given that Randolph Road is the longest, is longer than the other two combined, and more than twice as long as either of the other two, I plan to change the name of this article back to Randolph Road, the original name I gave it.Sebwite (talk) 04:28, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
