NPOV Dispute

The entire new section of the article reads like a Raley's advertisement. Maybe rephrase some of the lines (ex- "Raley's sells high quality products" or "Raley's emphasizes it's lower prices through it's Everyday Value program.) 05:29, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

I agree, this page reads like PR.

Hey, do you know more about Raley's to fill up an infobox or expand the article? I've been trying to find info on Raley's, but pretty much everything I've found has been corporate PR. If you do, let's try to build the page up a little. RexTraverse 20:39, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Raley's is celebrating their 75th year in business Febuary 2010. There is a lot of history in the current "Extra Magazine" produced by the store. Highlights of Raley's history include: introducing pre-packaged meat in the 1940s, creating side by side drug and grocery stores durimg the 1950s, "Miracle Marts" for one stop shopping in the 1960s, adding natural foods departments during the 1970s, and the addition of Bel Air, Nobhill Foods and Food Source to their chain of stores in the 1990s. 24.10.80.165 (talk) 01:57, 5 February 2010 (UTC)

In-store search engine?

I'm trying to find more information about a system that Raley's apparently had running in some of their stores for several years.

According to a friend of mine, sometime in the early 1990s the Raley's store in Reno, NV deployed shopping carts with color flatscreens which allowed you to search the store for specific items. It would tell you which aisle the item was in, and would display advertisements for items located near your current location in the store as you moved around. My friend says the system was discontinued later, though she can't remember any details.

If this is true, this system would probably represent a "first" in one or more areas, and should probably be mentioned in the main article.

The "smart" shopping carts were used at the Suisun City, CA store in 1989-1991. The units were monochrome but did provide location of products as well as advertisements. The units were mounted on the older style shopping carts that were tall and flipped up for storage in the cart area with battery packs located at the raised area of the cart near the customers feet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.62.168.192 (talk) 05:46, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
