Ownership
[edit]Is the company publicly listed or privatley owned? If the latter, by whom? 86.17.246.75 21:22, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
I think it's privately owned. Dalekfan101 12:48, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Its a little known fact that this glorious website is actually owned by Jesus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.199.31.56 (talk) 21:06, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think anyone has ever successfully found out who owns this company, it seems. 86.17.211.148 (talk) 22:53, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Delivery
[edit]Does the company deliver to other countries outside the UK like Norway? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.108.253.187 (talk) 18:51, 28 April 2007 (UTC).
Outside of the U.K. they do, they can charge in Euros and ship to a number of countries - Norway however might not be one since its outside of the E.U. and most DVDs sold in the U.K. can only be sent within the E.U. (they'd obviously prefer to limit them to just the U.K. but that would be illegal). Winterval07 (talk) 09:40, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Be aware that due to the fact the company is Jersey-based, customs in all European countries will charge you TAX. That they are situated in Jersey, is only mentioned in the Terms and Conditions. If you look under their contacts, the address is Harmondsworth (UK), which is just an office (according to the helpdesk of Play.com) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.184.25.145 (talk) 13:37, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
I order DVDs from play.com to Norway all the time without any trouble - see [1] for details. Norway is outside the EU, but within the European Economic Area. 62.92.17.193 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 13:26, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Only low value items, such as DVDs, are stocked in Jersey. Most items above the £18 UK VAT threshold, will be stocked in UK.Danrok (talk) 01:50, 5 March 2009 (UTC)
Region 1 sales
[edit]The Play.com website sells region 1 DVDs, contrary to the article Alastairward 11:54, 27 September 2007 (UTC).
They don't, PlayUSA.com do, but Play.com only allow them on PlayTrade - they don't sell them.
Winterval07 (talk) 09:40, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
playasia.com is not part of play.com
[edit]Just phone up play.com to ask them if they are anything to do with playasia.com / play-asia.com.
They conform to me that nothing to do with playasia.com.
As such playasia.com reference should be removed from there listing on Wikipedia play.com
Ranking in UK online retailing
[edit]A company that monitors web traffic is not a valid source for measuring the size of businesses. I would guess that the company to which it is second on this measure is Amazon. Most people will take "second biggest" to mean that it has the second highest turnover however, and I believe the largest by turnover is Tesco. Whether or not that is correct, this article needs to stake how this company ranks on turnover. Abberley2 (talk) 14:33, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Returns Policy
[edit]Amended information on Jersey's Distance Selling Regulations - article makes it appear they are based on UK law. In fact, both are based on an EC Regulation. Existing link is dead. Removed but not replaced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.66.115.154 (talk) 11:53, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
The PlayUSA.com website was closed down in February 2011
[edit]I don't think it has closed down, seems very active to me, and there is no citation to show it has either. (Jme Saunders (talk) 16:13, 3 June 2011 (UTC))
