Checklist

[edit]

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
    B. MoS compliance:
The quotation "...is a dynamic, explosive and fitting end to a remarkable, violent experience..." is used twice in the article, you should rework it per WP:QUOTE.
Done
  1. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
The song was originally composed by the thrash metal group Slayer with vocals, an overdub of two guitars, bass, and percussion. This sentence is unsourced and poorly written; it sounds like your opinion. Also, consider read WP:OVERLINK.
I just deleted the sentence.
  1. B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
    C. No original research:
  2. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
    B. Focused:
  3. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  4. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  5. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    File:Slayer - Raining Blood.ogg does not meet the non-free content criteria §8.
I don't see how it doesn't meet the guidelines.
    This file needs a suitable caption.--Cannibaloki 15:15, 13 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    Done
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
Although the presence of images is not a requirement, Wikimedia Commons has some free-licensed images that could be used in this article.
All I can find on "Raining Blood" is File:LombardoStillReigning.jpg, but its copyright and not even on commons
  1. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:
    On hold for a week.--Cannibaloki 15:07, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    Failed due to unresolved issues.--Cannibaloki 21:02, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Comments

[edit]
  • It was said by King and Hanneman that it is their favorite song to play live, despite playing it on almost all live setlists since its release. I do not understand this sentence.
  • Done re-worded
  • "Raining Blood" is four minutes and seventeen seconds long, and is Reign in Blood's closing track. The song is one of three songs from the album that exceeds three minutes in length. These sentences are really necessary?
  • The song's music was written solely by guitarist Jeff Hanneman, (who is also a primary writer of the song's lyrics) whom presented both hostility and anger in his writing. The source did not say Hanneman presented both hostility and anger in his writing.
  • Allmusic says it in the "Moods" section.
  • Live versions of the song also appear in the albums Headbangers Ball and Hard N' Heavy Vol. 61. It is not a relevant fact at all, please consider remove. The song has probably been included in several compilations since.

  • In a 2003 CMJ New Music Report, Kevin Boyce said that the piece was said to be a "bottom side of a steel toed boot in the pit." This sentence is not relevant to be included in an article of an encyclopedia.

  • Beth Winegarner said that the song "comes on like a quiet horror show, all suspense and dark shadows," and later said that it was a "slow, funeral ballad". Beth Winegarner wrote about Tori Amos' version for "Raining Blood," not the original one by Slayer. The reception should be written in favour of Slayer version for "Raining Blood".--Cannibaloki 02:34, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Not done Erik Hinds from About.com said that the piece has unexpectedly become a ballad. The musician Erik Hinds was reviewing himself? Why About.com? The correct should be, "François Couture of Allmusic said". Note that this review was for a cover of the song, rearranged to play on some sort of standup cello. (I don't think it is entirely unexpected that death metal sounds a bit more ballad-y on a cello than on 40 Marshall stacks.) Also, you used Answers.com, which is a mirror of Allmusic. Derrick Harris, an editor of the official newspaper of University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, said that it had a "blistering solo." Really? The source says more than this...--Cannibaloki 16:46, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
