He's actually a mishmash of mestizo and mulatto. Also, because of his green eyes, people in Ecuador regard him as a "sexual symbol" and only second best to Hugo Chavez but not as "papi" as Evo Morales. --60.234.101.144 (talk) 11:53, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

For the sake of a non-biased and nicely balanced article, I would like bring afloat the following facts: it is a bad president in the world he is ogle and lucer person and i dont like this president :p

1. There are various findings linking Correa to receiving at least $US 400 millions from Colombian terrorists to fund his presidential campaing.

2. In 2008 he was willing, along with president Chavez, to give full beligerant status to Colombia terrorists (guerrillas known as FARC) because Correa sees LEFT-WING TERRORISTS as a LEGITIMATE POLITICAL ARMED PARTY.

3. The laptops and other hardware found in the Colombian incursion on Ecuador, that saw the death of a key member of the aforementioned terrorist group, FARC, shows documents linking his government with a TERRORIST GROUP.

The article portrays a relatively harmless and "wise" figure, which is clearly not quite the truth. I understand overpatrotic zealots will find it hard to digest, but for the sake of unbiased and factual knowledge please look do look beyond your susceptibilities. Plus his father spent 3 years in an US prison for smuggling cocaine, and later commited suicide on his return to Ecuador when he found out his wife had left him for another man. I'm not saying like father like son, but it's factual information that should be on. WHY IS THERE NO MENTION OF HIS FATHER, OR HIS MOTHER?? Every other president with NOTABLE families have that inclueded, of course, in most countries they don't let criminals get to power. Look up Vladimir Putin or Geroge W. Unverified Information

The last paragraph in "Second Presidency From 2009" does not have any links supporting its calims, and to me seems like an opinion, not an encyclopedic fact. I would remove it completely. Quoting:

Lawsuit

I read somewhere that one time he was listed a "bad-debtor" in some sort of newspaper ad for being late, or non-payment, of a $50 credit card bill. This is mostly true, Presidente RCD sued Banco Pichincha, but the credit card debt was about 120 dollars, and the National Court's judges ordered the bank to pay a 600.000 dollars indemnization. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.63.231.170 (talk) 05:10, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

President Rafael Correa was mistakenly listed a "bad-debtor" by the Banco Pichincha bank. Because of this he had trouble for credit for five years unfairly. Sources (in Spanish):

Move sections

Along the lines of Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales' foreign policy sections i've moved Rafael Correa's to Foreign policy of Rafael Correa because the section is large and there is enough space to warrant a new article.Lihaas (talk) 11:18, 5 May 2010 (UTC)

Pativideos

Why does the WP:LEDE i.e. summary of the article mention something about a pativideos scandal, but there's no discussion of this in the article Nil Einne (talk) 09:10, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

I had the same question, so I removed it. Due to the current tensions there, he's in the news, so the article shouldn't confuse people. I did some searching for 'pativideos' in google, and the term appears to be not used very much - most of the links are wikipedia mirrors. On the other hand, it does appear to refer to something real, namely some videos that were released of people talking about a plan to lower the price of the debt before repurchase by announcing that they might default. I suppose that's interesting, but I think the term 'pativideos' and no description of the video was confusing.--Jimbo Wales (talk) 09:16, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

Probably good idea. You may have found [1] from your search and it does have some explaination. I searched when I first posted my message but forgot to include Correa's name so ended up with a bunch of stuff which either didn't seemed relevant or which were in Spanish which I don't understand so gave up Nil Einne (talk) 15:52, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

2010 crisis

Made two changes - added the point that as he challenged the mutineering police to kill him if they dared, they were actually pointing their guns at him. Included source for this. Energy Politics section is in need of re-translation into better English. For example see below.

Misleading sentence in Edward Snowden section

Ecuador, which had originally offered Snowden a temporary travel document, withdrew it.[290] President Correa said the decision to issue it was "a mistake".[291]

That's wrong. Ecuador didn't offer any travel documents. Fidel Narvaez did, without authorization, in a hurry as Snowden was trying to leave Hong Kong. Fidel Narvaez is a friend of Julian Assange's. Nor did Ecuador withdraw anything. The document was invalid to begin with. When president Correa said the decision was "a mistake" he meant that Fidel Narvaez made a mistake by issuing such a document without authorization from the Foreign Ministry. 186.101.140.5 (talk) 22:03, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

Removed "Achievement Checklist"

Removed the "checklist" which was over 30,000 bytes of info (nearly 20% of the article in bytes!) Most of this is explained in the body already and only seemed to serve as a positive POV. I have never seen this on any other article regarding politicians, so this was promptly removed. Chambana Sun Op-Ed in the University of Illinois "Exceptional Achievement" award sub-section.

There is an op-ed cited from the Chambana Sun about criticism of the University of Illinois to not rescinding the award given to Correa. However, it seems like the Chambana Sun itself is not a editorially independent newspaper, but instead is run by a GOP led PAC. Lead bombing

This article seems to have been the victim of extensive lead bombing. I started to fix it but it's going to be a big job. Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section the lead is supposed to summarize the article, but there is much in the lead of this article that isn't discussed anywhere else. Examples include the CIA and the pink tide. If it's not important enough to put in the article, it doesn't belong in the lead. GA-RT-22 (talk) 22:30, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
