Birthday

Their birthdays are incorrect in the article. The month and days are correct, but they're off by 6,5 years. Awards

Shouldn't their award from A Dose of Buckley be mentioned. One of the best music critics, Doc Buckley, named No Flex Zone the #4 worst song of 2014.198.89.29.251 (talk) 02:53, 28 July 2015 (UTC)

Best known for Black Beatles

Let's be honest: their most popular song is now "Black Beatles". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.115.179.233 (talk) 00:15, 18 November 2016 (UTC)

Ages

While I've not looked at the editing history, the comments above and recent changes suggest we may have date of birth problems here. Public records are not sufficient as sources, including websites that simply reprint information from such sources like the currently used californiabirthindex.org references.

Swae Lee uses a Billboard reference, which seems fine to use here as well. Their very young ages should make it easy to verify. However, the https://zhiphopcleveland.com/4457745/rae-sremmurd-behind-the-scenes-with-shorty-da-prince-bet-awards-exclusive/ interview makes it appear that they may not want to divulge their real ages. --Ronz (talk) 20:07, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

I've removed it from both articles, and started a discussion at Swae Lee. --Ronz (talk) 16:49, 31 December 2017 (UTC)

Rjcanaday99 says "This artist needs a stand alone page as he is going to release his first solo project soon"

To editor Rjcanaday99: Do not attempt to re-create the article about Slim Jxmmi. We determined the subject isn't notable. Wikipedia is not written for promotional purposes, so claiming that the subject is going to relaese an album isn't a valid reason to go against consensus. By the way, are you being paid to re-create this article? Do you have a conflict of interest? Chris Troutman (talk) 22:21, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

To editor Chris troutman: I don't have a conflict of interest. When the article was submitted for deletion in the past Jxmmi was not notable. He has gained a lot notoriety since then and has been featured on Gucci Mane's Album. There has been recent credible information that he is releasing a solo album in the near future, so I felt he needed an article similar to his brother. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rjcanaday99 (talkcontribs) 17:30, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
"He has gained a lot notoriety since then... " Says who? Please provide citations to make a case for the subject passing WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO, or WP:MUSICBIO. Chris Troutman (talk) 22:33, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
To editor Chris troutman: He is a notable musician. He has:
Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.
Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart.
Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country.
Has received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country.
Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable).
These are straight off the notability for musicians page.

@Rjcanaday99: Your URLs only show that Rae Sremmurd is notable, not Slim Jxmmi. Otherwise, those articles are only mere mentions, not enough for GNG. The XXL Magazine URL is the only independent reliable source among the group. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:05, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

To editor Chris troutman: There are plenty of less notable artists on Wikipedia. I understand your points but still feel like this article belongs on Wikipedia. The other member of the duo Swae Lee has his own page and has a similar amount of notoriety. I assumed that since Lee has his own page Jximmi should have one too. I'm not sure what else I could do to get my point across. Can this get brought back up in a re-creation discussion? If not I will revisit when his solo project is released. Rjcanaday99 (talk) 23:25, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

The idea that there "are plenty of less notable artists on Wikipedia" is a discredited argument. If we took that approach, there would be a race to the bottom with content getting worse. "Swae Lee has his own page and has a similar amount of notoriety." Then perhaps that article should be deleted or redirected, too. It looks like Swae Lee is riding off of a minor credit for his involvement with Formation (song), which won a Grammy (which is enough for MUSICBIO). As far as re-arguing the deletion discussion, I don't think going to WP:Deletion Review would be your best bet. Instead, wait for the album to drop and see if it charts or if journalists write about the album. That could make all the difference. Trying to write about him now, before the album comes out, looks like a promotional effort. Wikipedia, as an encyclopedia, is a trailing marker of notability. We wait for other publications to write stuff and we just use their work after the fact. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:53, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
