Could someone hee define what is meant by offset? BernardZ (talk)

It just means the difference caused by the issue in question. If a sample from a freshwater environment would be measured at 1,000 years old if there were no hard water effect, but is measured at 2,000 years old because of the hard water effect, the offset is 1,000 years. The offset is not generally going to be a fixed number of years, and may also vary with the age of the sample. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 13:28, 9 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
